Steve is officially the stupid man in Weatherfield (obviously there is lots of competition), and should no longer be allowed to drink alcohol within one-mile radius of any female described by the producers as "fiesty", since he will inevitably sleep with and impregnate and/or marry them.
The writers must think that we are terminal morons; why would Steve approach Tracy with a ten-foot pole, considering what she's done to him and everyone around him?
It's all very Steve and Karen mark 2.

rant over;)

There's fault on both sides though, clearly - Steve tried to abduct Amy and take her abroad not so long ago.

Nevertheless, Steve and Tracy are meant to be. These two could be comedy gold behind the Rovers bar for the next twenty years, if written well.
