Corrie's Matt Carter is finally about to get a storyline of his own.
Matt Carter has pretty much been a spare part since he started last year but what little we've seen of him has been good so far. He's sacked Gail after Natasha told on her for peeking in her medical records and he later bullied Gail into helping in the medical centre during the tram crash. Other than attending various medical emergencies, most recently after Izzy's mugging, he's had little else to do.
We've already blogged that it looks as if Tina may have a go-round with him but there are apparently skeletons in his closet which drive them apart again so my guess is she'll end up with Tommy, who's been another spare part on the cobbles. Just as well. Tina and Matt together seems just so wrong to me.
Someone mentioned in a comment on that blog post that Maria would be more age appropriate. That would work, I think, now that we know she's going to be on screen for another year. I always thought Fiz and Matt would be a good couple as well, once she's got John out from under her skin. Matt could help her pick up the pieces and their friendship could blossom.
And just what could those skeletons in his closet be? My first guess is a wife and kid/s somewhere that he's not got round to divorcing yet, always a staple soap plot. Or maybe he's ran away from the shadow of an old malpractice suit. What do you think? Let's come up with some creative bone rattling for Doc Carter!

I really like Dr Carter and I'm pleased we'll be seeing more of him. That said, I hope the "skeletons" aren't something which leads to him turning out to be a baddie. There's going to be no nice people left on the street before long!
Ive always fLund - especially from a side angle - that Dr Carter looks a lot like Liam Connor and i think it would be both strange and touching if either Maria or Carla were to get involved. In fact, i always wanted Carla to double take first time meeting him!
Dr Carter is far too good for Miss Macintyresome. Pretty but not too intelligent and would have nothing in common.
Bring back Natasha!
Good news about the young doc! Somehow I don't think his skeletons will be too awful I'd like to see him with Maria to see if she can brighten up with someone who's not bonkers or a cheat. His past? Yea, could be he's married or is hiding a malpractice suit. Maybe he served time. Or was addicted to something - many doctors succumb to the temptation.
There is no-one on the street for Dr Carter. He is drop dead gorgeous, highly intelligent and well paid. Plus doctors do not socialise with their patients.
But if he is filmed in his boxers, I don't care what the pretext is.
I say he's been transplanting organs harvested in third-world countries - that means he's destined to be with Fiz! :)
Why does Tina just have to go from man to man? Another pretty but pointless character that doesnt do much - wait for the shreaking and vindictiveness when they break up - YAWN!
Yep and note to Corrie: ITS ILLEGAL FOR DOCTORS TO HAVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR PATIENTS. Dr Carter seems rather a good doctor and the way he dealt with Gail's impropriety shows that he wouldnt behave in this way himself - get a grip of reality scriptwriters!
Just because Tina lives on the same street, doesn't mean she's his patient. We haven't seen her have doctor's appointments yet. Ah but maybe that's the skeleton in his closet, getting into trouble romancing patients in the past!
It's just unbelievable that Tina would sign up with a practice other than the one about 100 yards from where she lives. It's this kind of basic error that tarnishes the show. Everyone knows that doctors cannot have relationships with patients.
