What a pickle poor Fiz found herself in last night!
Although the storyline involving Fiz’s post-Stape predicament hasn’t been one of my favourites, I have enjoyed the way the legal side of it has played out.
I’ve enjoyed seeing DC Redfearn coming in and out over the past few weeks as his investigation has continued. Although he has very little evidence, the odds are stacked against Fiz and he has managed to build quite the believable (if mostly based on speculation as well as Fiz doing herself no favours in babbling on and on about John) case against her.
And although women behind bars is nothing new to Corrie, last time we saw one of the street’s residents banged up for a long period of time was the ridiculous storyline where Gail found herself suspected of murdering Joe which was poorly played out so I’m hoping this time around the storyline will be a bit more bearable. That said, I’m not sure I like the idea of Fiz being at the forefront of the soap again. How much more of her crying about Hope can we be expected to put up with?

I did have a lump in my throat when Chesney handed baby Hope over to Hayley. It was as though his whole life was falling apart.
How the Cropper's are going to manage with everybody in the cafe flat I don't know? I just hope it turns into one of those clever tardis like rooms that pop up every now and again and I am looking forward to seeing Sylvia and Hope together :)
A Police Officer who wants to pin a crime on someone rather than investigate it professionally. A Prison Officer who tries to scare and intimidate a vulnerable, potentially suicidal new inmate. A Solicitor who seems to think it's his role to sort out his client's child care. Do the writers know anything about the real world?
I was much more moved by Chesney's distress, because his performance was so much more subtle.
I've rather enjoyed Redfern's investigation - sure, the evidence is nearly all circumstantial, but from his perspective the conclusions he is drawing make perfect sense. If this were a police drama and the story was being told from his point of view, he'd be the hero!
I'm with Beth..poor Ches..great acting and really did bring a tear or two.
Can't believe how obtuse the cops are here. So much evidence against John which they seem to be ignoring. If Fiz was in on it, she would have left the Hoyles to die in the cellar and no one would have been the wiser. John totally confessed in front of 3 witnesses but the cops are just igoring that too! Oh well..that's soap-opera land for you..Hoping to see the end of Fiz' bawling and mewling soon..really getting on my nerves!!
I thought Sam Aston's acting knocked Fiz's one-expression-fits-all-scenarios approach into a HUGE cocked hat. Poor Chesney, I cried for him but not for Fiz! There's too much too soon deja-vu here and although I loved the Stapewick saga and was sorry it ended, I wish it had been properly 'put to bed' instead of milking every last ounce of the plot.
I am really not enjoying yet another thrilling installment of the Weatherfield One - an Innocent Inside.
Sorry to be cynical but have we heard that Fiz is leaving the soap? So that means a few days of her screaming 'I didn't do it!' (Actually, she did some of it so she should stay in prison for a while.) But she'll be back on the street in a jiff. I don't really care what happens to her - so another pointless story.
No word of Fiz leaving. I had a lump in my throat for Chesney as well but i also haven't minded Jennie's acting at all.
If this were a police drama, Redfern would be taken off the case at the very least. Police investigations are about facts not making up fairy tales.
The checking of the bookshop story was a farce. How did the dumb blonde, check every City Centre Bookshop in that time? Fiz was right. How did the dumb blonde know that the person wasn't sick, on holiday, transferred, left or otherwise moved on?
Every drop is milked from every storyline. It's decided that John will walk away after breaking every bone in his body just so he can come back and save Fiz from going down for murder. Then the scripts are made to fit. I don't see how this is enjoyable.
That gal Jennie lost a chunk of weight, so they're probably planning to keep her in the forefront for some time. I also think we'd all do well to remember this is a soap, not TV drama or CSI. In this case, the job of the police is to perpetuate the persecution of Fiz until John shows up to save her. Praise be to Ches, Owen or whomever finally bumps John off, so we can move on.
I did not realise that soaps were meant to be trash TV. They used to be proud of their realism and research. It's sad when they are dumbed down.
Actually Anon, the checking of the bookshop was one of the more accurate parts of the story. We knew it was a large, city-centre bookshop. There is only one shop that matches that description in Manchester. How long does it take to check one shop?
Good acting allround, Could police officer Redfearn get a shave please?
The story-line should not be dragged out as per usual.
Another episode should see the end of Fiz in jail.
Let there be a happy ending. please!!!
ANON
Actually Dishwasher Crab, there are at least 6 large bookshops in the Centre of Manchester. Maybe you should apply to become a scriptwriter?
its not being done well at all-theres no evidence that fiz was involved in the actual murders
she was giving birth when charlotte died for christs sake-how ridiculous can you get
and like another poster said john confessed to the hoyles wot he had done so why charge fiz with it all
