Keith Duffy's Corrie return is shorter then originally planned.

Keith Duffy, who plays Irish barman Ciaran McCarthy, was on ITV's Lorraine programme yesterday morning. He was primarily there to support his son Jay, who joins rival soap Hollyoaks this week.

However Keith did confirm that he will be reappearing on the cobbles again this autumn, as he starts filming again in September. Kym Marsh, who plays Ciaran's on screen girlfriend Michelle, will start again then too.

Keith also said he won't be on screen for as long as he would like. This is because Jay has a big exam year, and his other child Mia, who has autism, is starting secondary school next year and he needs to be home in Dublin to support her with the transition.

This blogger think it's great Keith puts his family before work. Also, although Ciaran is a likeable character, I've not missed him while he's been off our screens. It'll be interesting to see how Michelle and Ciaran's relationship is looking though!

What does everyone else think of Ciaran and Michelle's upcoming return?

I like Ciaran's character and, whilst it's sad that he will not be staying as long as I'd hoped, Keith Duffy's commitment to his family is absolutely admirable and he comes across as a genuinely nice person. I look forward to Ciaran's return but not Michelle's, as I believe her character has very little substance or purpose on the Street.

I too have not really missed Ciaran, but I have really missed seen Michelle. I felt quite sorry for the way Kym Marsh has had recent problems lately in real life, and after reading the above information, I also should feel sorry for Keith Duffy who daughter has autism. This must be quite hard for him so well done Keith, and yes Michelle, please ignore certain people who can be extremely nasty, as they are probably just jealous that you can act and they can't.

I must admit I haven't missed either of them. Michelle was not a particularly strong character or actress, cast presumably for her looks. Ciaran will be good because he'll be a pal for Peter. There will be jobs going in the Rovers post-Becky and Stella so that's where Michelle will end up. Feel a bit luke warm at the moment - a case of wait and see.

michelle is too young for him..he's at his best flirting with the older ladies in the cast

Er, why is he returning AT ALL? And the dire Michelle - why? There are far too many characters already without bringing these two who have been long forgotton back yet again. Michele is not particularly popular either, must be a member of Phil Collinsons sycopant gang. It would be interesting to see how many cast members there are now, compared to say 5 or 10 years ago.

Michelle is soooo pointless now, why bring her back? To replace pointless Cheryl? Ciaran at least is a (desperately needed) friend for Peter. I've missed him. Maybe they can figure out a recurring role for him.

What do i think? ...meh. While i do like Ciaran, neither he nor Michelle are really integral characters. By the time they appear on screen it will be November likely. Ciaran is leaving again and Michelle is coming back to what? No job, no family, no friends, the Carla and frank story will be long over likely and Carla and Michelle were never all that close. Ciaran will be leaving her so what's left? throwing her back at Steve maybe?

Meh.

I really didn't miss these two (well, maybe Keith because he is SUCH an Irish hunk) but perhaps Michelle will put the gleam back in Steve's evil little eye what with Beck's leaving and Steve, being the idiot he is will try it on with Michelle...again.
I also hope they bring back Michelle's son so there can be some sort of new romance with a young couple on the streets instead of watching these middle aged and senior citizens getting busy. (Chesney excluded)

I quite like Ciaran, although I haven't really missed him. Certainly have not missed Michelle.

Surely people are missing the point here - they're not 'bringing them back' as such, they just went off on maternity leave and for Keith to do the Boyzone tour, they weren't axed and so they were always going to be back eventually.

Lol. I actually forgot these two were even meant to be coming back.

Ooooohhhh, before he leaves, please, may we see him in a towel (prefer sans, but a family show), still....

Oh please!

I'm so bored with so-called news about Kym Marsh.

She would announce to the press that she had been to an opening of an envelope if she could.

Please can she just stop her self publicising dull PR campaign for a while and maybe she will have something of interest to say when and if she comes back to Corrie.

And hopefully, the media - including web sites and blog sites will also stop publishing the tripe that usually comes out.
