There's a Coronation Street spoiler in The Sun today that reckons new Rovers landlady Stella, played by newcomer Michelle Collins, saves Leanne Barlow from armed robbers in one of her first scenes.
The paper says that two yobs are about to smash Leanne (Jane Danson) with a baseball bat as they rob the betting shop. But Stella grabs it and pushes one lout to the ground. She is then hailed a heroine by grateful locals, in scenes to air soon after she joins Corrie in June.

I dont like the sound of that storyline
Yeah why exactly wouldn't Leanne do that herself if it was possible? she not exactly a pushover unless (like I hope) she's knocked up by then.
This story obviously got thought up after the old granny from Northamptn bashed those robbers with her handbag. Sounds very contrived to me.
Wasn't their a rumor that Stella is going to be leannes birth mum or something?could be linked, but yeah I don't know why Leanne wouldn't just deal with the robbers herself
So much for realistic storylines! Corrie is becoming more and more of a joke.
There is a rumour that Stella might turn out to be Leanne's long-lost mother, yes. She's old enough, and it could make for some very interesting storylines if true, but it is only a rumour. This meeting between the two of them at the bookies can't be random, though.
Feisty though Leanne is, if she is alone and cornered by two men holding weapons, there is only going to be so much she can do to defend herself. Someone else coming in and attacking them from behind would have the advantage of surprise, which Leanne wouldn't have. Sounds plausible enough to me.
How old is Leanne -early thirties, how old is Michelle Collins - early to mid forties. Did she have Leanne at 12 then?
Leanne is 30 this year (she's about 3 years younger than the actress). Michelle Collins is 49. Definitely old enough to be her mother - especially when you consider how close in age the actresses playing Audrey and Gail are!
Is the Stella/ Leanne being mother/ daughter supposed to be the big, big dark secret that the family brings to rock the street that was reported in the press? If so, now it's leaked, then I suppose that silly smirk is wiped off Phil Collinson's face. I dislike him so much for ruining the show. It's so tacky and badly done now that he'd have to do a big U turn in many areas of production to bring it back to where it was. His ego after the success of the tram crash needs to take a major climb down and decide if he wants to ruin Corrie truly or continue on his path in making a northern version of the manic, over the top soap with glum faces, and shouting people such as the one from London.
I don't think anything has been leaked to the press. This is just a rumour going around the fandom - might be a good guess, it's a plausible concept, but then again it might be completely and utterly off the mark! Time will tell.
The actress who plays Leanne in Coronation Street has age a lot, she looks at least 47!!, never 30 in a million years!!!
