Coronation Street actors from the past and present are leaving the cobbles behind them to take part in a night-time walking event to raise money for charity. Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre, and Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, will be among those taking part in Cancer Research UK's Shine event in Manchester on May 1. Also there on the night will be former Coronation Street actresses Lucy-Jo Hudson and Kirsty Leigh Porter, who is currently appearing in Emmerdale.
The actresses are part of Team Vital, who are walking the half marathon route in memory of former Coronation Street writer and producer Gavin Blyth, who died from cancer in November last year. Michelle Keegan said: "Having recently lost someone very close to me to cancer I wanted to do the Shine half marathon walk in their honour and for Gavin, who was working on Coronation Street when I first joined the show."
