New Couple for the Rovers Return
The Big Announcement has just been revealed - we're getting a trio of new characters to take over behind the bar of the Rovers!
A brand spanking new couple Stella and Karl will be joining the Street in June, played by former Eastenders actress Michelle Collins and Taggart star John Michie.
Steve McDonald is set to employ Stella as his new bar manager, and she'll give poor Steve more than he bargained for by moving in with husband Karl and daughter Eva, who is yet to be cast.
Stella will have a dark secret, like they say about a lot of new arrivals, so that's bound to come out in the first couple of months! And look out for that to have repercussions for some of the Street's residents.
Exec producer Kieran Roberts said: "Karl and Stella's fiery marriage is sure to keep viewers hooked through 2011 and beyond".
What do we think over here at Coronation Street Blog? This will certainly vastly change the dynamics of the Rovers from now on, sounds like an exciting new direction for our favourite boozer! Personally I'm a big fan on Michelle Collins, so looking forward to seeing Stella especially.

It should be Lisa Maxwell tbh. But I think she may be good :)
She is an accomplished actress. She's done a lot more than that Southern Thing. And John Michie strikes me as likely to be the sort of male character the Street is crying out for at the moment.
Little worried about the ominous 'dark secret' though ... sounds like the beginning of another Collinson Sensation.
More well knowns. It will always be Cindy and Rabbie from Taggatt. I may change my mind but not happy about this.
Never saw her in EastEnders, never saw him in Taggart, so they'll be Karl and Stella to me xD
Looking forward to new blood in the Rovers, the McDonald's would have been perfect if Michelle or Becky were never in there
I loved michelle collins in Eastenders and she has done a lot more than just soap, she is a good actress and will be good for corrie. John Michie I have seen in Taggart and he is a very good actor too - he played a gay cop in Taggart. When I saw the photo I thought it was Danny Baldwin and Raquel Watts
John Richie didn't play the gay part in Taggart. He is a very good actor and gorgeous with it so really looking forward to seeing him in Corrie....
