Well, well, well, there's going to be a cull and carnage on the cobbles for Coronation Street's 50th anniversary when a train crashes onto the Street.If you were the Corrie producer, who woud YOU kill off if you could?
Here's my top three for the firing line: Tracy Barlow, Molly Dobbs, John Stape. And here's my three that I would hate to see go: Rita, Deirdre, Gail. And my three to return who would bring tea and sympathy back to the Street: Spider Nugent, Mavis Riley, Curly Watts. What about yours?

My choices are very similar to yours.. Tracy (maybe if we just douse her with water she'll melt like the Wicked Witch of the West?), Molly... and Sean Tully for my third choice. Although I was torn between killing him or Michelle off... perhaps they could both go in some sort of tragic hair straightener accident??

Tracy Barlow, oh yeah. And if she were scrapping with Len Windass, all the better.
Scary Mary has become a pointless, OTT and cringe-inducing character. Nobody would really miss her. Norris would be relieved.
Fat Brenda's death would be different, as we've never seen her. I love the cabbie friendships and could create something interesting at StreetCars.
Ryan has become pointless, but no, could not watch anymore of Michelle's whining. Kirk, on the other hand, would be missed but we'd get over it.
Stape, no no no, he needs a slap, maybe upside the head with a 2x4, but no! He should get a major scare that results in a character makeover, not elimination. Fetid though he's become, he's part of a fragile family.
And please take Betty's picture down. She's too loved to be the poster child for this cause.
To go would be Molly, Michelle (not that that is likely to happen with those new boobs!) and the whole Windass family. To stay would be Kirk - but please give him a decent ongoing storyline, John Stape - yes, I love his character, and Graeme.
Back to visit would be Mavis, Hilda, Curly and Chris Collins (for obvious reasons!).
Of course, I want the older stallwarts to stay, but that's a given, I don't have to pick them.

Wasn't Rita mentioned as the highest paid cast member on the Street the other year? I've got a horrible feeling that in this new age of austerity, that they'll include Rita for no other reason than to save money.

I bet they'll do both Tyrone and Molly. Then the rumour of Sally and Kevin raising the baby would make sense if Kevin finds out it's his. i reckon Jack might be one too, as he's leaving but i hope not.

Phil Collinson did mention that we'll lose long well loved characters. But he surely can't kill off Ken and Emily (who I believe have iron contracts - that means they can't be sacked) and he knows that Rita is too popular to get the axe!
I was hard pushed to think of any of the current cast I'd like to see "trammed" - I know it's "only a soap" but even so, a gruesome accident seems a horrible way for any of them to go, even really irritating ones like Becky, Sunita and Natasha in her current weedy incarnation. Stape MUST stay, and be rehabilitated!! and the Windasses, the Platts, the Websters, all the Barlows, the cab office, and all the oldies. Think that's practically the whole street? I'd like to see Darryl and Teresa come back, and Amber.
