The importance of being Ernest Bishop

Actor Stephen Hancock once played Emily's husband Ernest Bishop on Coronation Street. That's him now, seated at the front in this picture.

Stephen is featuring in a community film on Waveney Partnership Television. It's in aid of promoting support for SSAFA Forces Help (The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association). You can find out more about it here.

He's not changed that much. He must be 80 odd now!

One of my earliest memories at eight years old is of Ernie being shot. My parents watched Corrie and this was the first time I watched it with them.

Give Emily a husband!!... I adore her, and it's a shame she is so unlucky in love.

It is a real shame that the writers have not used Emily to the full. Yes, OK, she was given a bit of a role with Spider, and then again as the long suffering landlady of awful little Norris. But she could have been given Oh so much more, a real long standing role perhaps with a husband. Again the story writers just failed to live up to the possibilities.

Its a shame they didnt keep Ramsay on as part of the gang. Then they keep on and on Dev, Michelle and Ryan - barmy.
