Hot on the heels of announcing the casting of Cherylee Houston as Kirk's new love interest Izzy, Coronation Street have been telling Digital Spy all about their latest signing - Izzy's father, Owen, played by Ian Puleston-Davies.Corrieproducer Kim Crowther says Owen will become Liz McDonald's new love interest, and not get off to a good start with Becky. He's also Izzy's father, and will have another daughter showing up on the Street too.

I liked Liz & Lloyd. They sparked and it was different. Now we've got Lloyd settling for a loser like Teresa (I'm sorry, fans, Karen is a good actor, but the character is brassy trashy freeloader with no redeeming virtues).
I hope TPTB integrate this new family slowly, let us get to know them, not just takeover every story.
Why is it when a young character is introduced, their father has to end up having an affair with someone on the street? Its all too trite. I expect Liz will treat this one like dirt like she does all the rest, I would like to see Liz in other storylines which dont just involve her getting a boyfriend. Apart from interfering in Steve's marraige, Liz's character does not seem to be used unless she has a "new man".
Yeah Ena's hairnet, too right. We've had Sian's dad sha.. oh no and then there was Ben's dad who .. no he didn't either. Sorry, I can't think of any.
