Finally, Kirk is going to get a new girlfriend but the road to love is going to be a bumpy one. He arranges to meet this new girl via an online dating service. She is Izzy (we don't have a last name yet), and she's disabled and is in a wheelchair. Actress Cherylee Houston really is disabled, ITV tells us, and her character, Izzy, is going to be sparky and feisty. We'll see her for at least six months starting in February and she's due to strike some of those sparks off characters like Janice, Carla and Liz. (My money's on her working in the factory, then, replacing Kelly.) ITV also says "She’s attracted to bad boys and, due to her own messy romantic history, she’s become something of a heartbreaker over the years, reeling boys in but leaving them crushed."Apparently we will also meet some of her family including a "tough-but-tender" father, probably where she got so tough and sparky herself. My take is, if she goes for bad boys - what attracts her to Kirk? But you know, he could be just the perfect boyfriend for her in the end. It sounds like she could ruffle a few feathers and be a great character! It'll be nice to see Kirk have a storyline again, too. He's been spending his time supporting Maria, playing HiyaLowa and probably walking Ozzy (Hmmm... wonder how Ozzy and Izzy are going to get along!). We haven't seen much of him lately.

It looks like they have got a lot planned for her, which is unusual because new characters tend to be eased in slowly.
Nice to see Kirk getting a storyline. I really liked him when he was looking after Maria, so hopefully this new storyline will explore his softer side more.

Oh, and also I think this is fantastic that they have a handicapped person on Corrie. Although, I will be quite interested to see how she gets around on the street. Surely the Rovers doesn't have handicapped washrooms?

Whatever happened to Ryan's friend Phil, who was also wheelchair-bound? Sacrificed for the 'flawed-Christian' option.
I think this means that over the next few weeks the various sets will suddenly start acquiring ramps - the access to the factory is only up steps for a start ;-)

no, no...Kirk the lovable wise bum of the Cobbles needs a job, an interesting/job more than a sassy new girlfriend..
Oh well, if they'll be introducing her father too, there's another one for Gail to latch on to.
Great to see a genuine wheelchair user in Coronation Street at last. I hope she lasts for more than just a few episodes.
