Go Corrie! Our favourite telly show won Best Serial Drama (aka Best Soap) at the National Television Awards held at London's 02 arena. William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, spoke on behalf of the cast, many of whom were gathered around him on the stage to celebrate Corrie's success. William thanked everyone for voting for Corrie, praised the teamwork of the cast and crew, paid tribute to producer Kim Crowther ( who was looking very fetching in a pink frock) and said working on Corrie was like "one big happy family".
Congratulations to Corrie on winning this award - it's about time too!
Craig Gazey, who plays Graeme Proctor on Corrie, won the award for Best Newcomer at the ceremony too. Read more on that here.

Yay! So pleased that Corrie won and Craig Gazey! But... I did feel that that the NTA's were biased towards Corrie. They had Bill Roache talk about Corrie and then did an impressive video montage for our soap, yet they didn't do this for the others! The public could still vote at this stage, and it looks like the NTA (being an ITV show) decided to plug Corrie in the hope that it would clinch the votes at the final hurdle. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled they won but it did seem a bit unfair on the other soaps.
And so they should have been biased, 50 years on the air is quite an achievement and it would have been embarrassing if they'd not made a big deal of it! I"m sure the other soaps could see it coming. Fair on them? Maybe not but if they last to 50 years, they'll get their turn too!
Brilliant win! I loved it when Lister (yeah Craig Charles will always be Lister to me) and the little lad who plays Simon celebrated behind Dermot O'Leary while he was winding up proceedings.
Great win for Corrie and about time too! I see over on digital Spy the backlash from the obsessed Eastenders fans has started. Just because a few hardcore Eastenders fans think Corrie is rubbish they think there are no other opinions apart from their own. Fact 1 Corrie has more viewers. Fact 2 Corrie has a better audience share. Fact 3 Corrie is 50 years old and is still top of the ratings lets see if eastenders is in the same position in 25 years time!! If people dont like Corrie dont watch it just as I dont watch Eastenders because I dont like it but each to their own. Just accept Corrie was voted most popular serial by the VIEWERS! Well done corrie !!!!
Well done Corrie, I love you!!
Well deserved. Did think that they would've shown some Corrie archive in the tribute. Did think that William Roache and Jack P Shepherd lacked chemistry and were cringeworthy. On another note, I'm tired of Ant and Dec winning every time. Paul O'Grady was much better.
