Interesting decision on the part of the Corrie writers to infuse a bit of the real world events like the Middle-East quagmire particularly around Remembrance Day -- I say great! Let's see how skillfully it's done: Does a Gary Windass character really get a conscience and sign up to fight/serve (in a cause to assist a people far away in a country most couldn't point out on a map) or like many young, restless, unemployed individuals the world over -- he sees an opportunity instead to escape the dullness and the poverty and swallows any apprehension or fear to focus on the assurance of a regular wage, a pension perhaps, heroism, adventure/travel...
And moving beyond the personal... will the episodes hint at the larger question of the morality of war and most conflicts fueled not by conscience or morality but by greed and the quest for power.
