If you're wondering how legal the interim order that Grandad George has brought against Peter for Simon on Corrie, have a look here. From McKenzie Friend and Lay Advocate, John Junk of http://www.familycourtsupport.co.uk/.
"An ex parte (without notice to the other side for the non legals) Interim Residence Order granted for a grandfather in his late 60’s/early 70’s... Best bit was that there is a hearing next Wednesday where a final decision will be taken! Oh how I laughed. In reality it would take CAFCASS about 10 weeks to allocate a reporter, a return day to court would be months not a week away, and no decision could be reached except by consent within a week. I fully expect CAFCASS to be bleating on about how following Coronation Street their officers are now under increased pressure to produce reports in double quick time, and they need more money otherwise the service will collapse."

The story has veered to the stupid. Peter is Simon's natural father, no police force in the land would ignore him when he made a complaint that George who wasnt on the scene until a couple of months ago had taken him without his consent. How could he get a temporary hearing that day, without an appearance from Peter and no Social Worker to be seen! Have to do better writers!
Unless of course the documents turn out to be fake...
I think George is going to turn out to be a Godfather-style chappie who has got judges in his pocket and sprayed plenty cash around.
♫ Money makes the world go round... ♫
Grandpa George likes to splash it about, and Grandpa Ken is broke. George buying his way to a legal shortcut for dramatic purposes, sadly believable. Ken knowing what is legally and morally correct but being powerless to stop a wrong, also sadly in character. Peter, the weak but struggling son, stuck in the middle, Simon the adorable innocent,...yeah, I am loving to hate this story.
i know its a soap but its jsut not believable enough that he done all this in one day it just wouldnt happen
they should have just left it as they ran off to blackpool because he doesnt want him near peter
I know this is an old story, but I wanted to mention that it is possible to get to court for an interim residence order within 24 hours of lodging a claim - my sister's sister-in-law did it just before Christmas to reclaim custody of her young children, who had been living away from her. She lodged the claim and had an interim hearing to grant her residence within 24 hours, pending a full assessment of the case. So I can quite believe how fast George managed to wrangle an interim order for Simon.
