Welcome to Wednesday's edition of the Coronation Street Blog and the first of tonights two episode reviews...
Dodgy business deals seem high on the agenda in Weatherfield just lately. Alya's now determined to sell her shares in Underworld so she can buy into Speed Daal (from her ex-brother in law, no less). Will Carla sell her 'soul to the devil' and pay for the factory via Peter Barlow (ex-hubby, who's just sold his share in The Rovers Return, to ex Underworld boss, Carla's father, Johnny)?.
It's a good job Weatherfield Police are slack because it could be confused as 'money laundering', in these quasi-incestuous family financial dealings!.
Talking of which, Sally has hit the front page of the Weatherfield Gazette for her (false) financial dealings too. Seeking legal experience from Adam, she learns of Imran's representation of dodgy Duncan. An irate Imran jumps quickly to his defence.
It isn't long before Sally & Tim head to Duncan's house. Easily riled, Tim punches Duncan. I think Tim may need a lawyer now too?.
Sean's downtrodden life continues, as he lies again to Eileen. It's quite sad to see, but his penniless persona is now becoming more obvious.
Mary & Tracy in the florists surely needs a spin-off show of its own?. As the Spice Girls track 'Mama' plays in the background, Tracy's everpresent with her inherited (Blanche) sarcasm and Mary is in a pair of dungarees whilst ' TV presenting' to the petunias. It certainly lightens the load and diverts us from the (dodgy) business lessons that Corrie has given us recently. It's like Weatherfield's answer to Dragons Den!
In other news; Gary comes back from Scotland all 'hangry', and Toyah & Imran appear to be instant enemies.. for no reason?.

Couple of complaints:
Did Mary really have to prance about making a racket when Tracy was trying to talk on the phone? What an idiot!
Did Peter really have to keep making those sickly faces at Carla? He was making me feel ill.
I don't find Tim's quick temper and gullibility very believable. He knew from the start that Duncan was dodgy and warned Sally off. He doesn't have a volatile temper like Gary. If anything, he's the laid-back guy who takes everything in his stride. He also wouldn't be so naïve to think a bank wouldn't chase him for £1000 deposited in error (though I think that was a plot device to facilitate Kevin being off-screen for a while). Why would Duncan use a solicitor on the same street as the co-defendant he's going to frame? He'd more likely to use one who's helped him in similar cases as surely Duncan's got form. Disappointing, hackneyed storyline which the actors are gamely doing their best with.
Humpty, I agree with you about the anger issue, it’s not at all in Tim’s character. He is kinda dumb, tho’, so I kinda can accept the money thing. As far as Imran representing Duncan, a reader on another blog explained at this level, there is a list of local solicitors to guide arrestees before they go to Crown Court. Imran was simply next on the list. There are far too many holes in the evidence and how the cops are treating it; the suspension of disbelief is long since past. Sally D is doing a great job of showing Sally M’s unfair entrapment but the rest, blech!
Anon: soap phone etiquette terrible. Apart from all the personal calls made at work, characters constantly talk to others who are on the phone!
My money is on romance between Imran and Toyah.
Humpty. Imran was the duty on call solicitor. He didn't know this before he took on the case of the connections to the street. Also, when are the police gonna check the mobile phone mast to get the location of where the texts were sent from
