I am heartily sick of the writers, keep making Dennis out to be the bad guy! Why do they insist on letting the worm Norris win all the time? And anyway, Rita should think herself luck that a lovely guy like Dennis would even give her the time of day, the miserable old bat.
I am a big fan of Dennis Tanner but I cant wait to see him go and not keep enduring this relentless claptrap with Norris the Toad and Santimonous old Rita. Shame on the writers and Blackburn for not doing more with this marvellous old character. But of course we have to have more of Maddah and the flaming Windbags in our faces all the time. Why does Simon have to have a wet nurse? He is about 11 years old and should be with his mates out playing footie in this weather. The writers are making him wierd especiallyt as another poster said he flings his arms around Nick's waist all the time, very odd indeed.
I just really disliked how they turned Dennis into a snivelling sofa surfer who spent all his time chasing Rita or trying to please Rita, apart from a blip where he got involved in putting turns on at clubs and ran off with Gloria. I know there was no Ken to spar with but he was badly wasted :( -Smelloid
Poor Dennis was wasted and I partly put this down to Collinson as well. They had no idea what to do with him, apart from having someone from the first episode return and marry Rita, making her Mrs. Tanner. Which somehow feels weird as her and Elsie were love rivals when it came to Len. And his plots were really just how inferior he was to 'Queen' Rita and getting into stupid scraps with Norris, and acting like his life depends on Rita despite the fact he managed 47 years without her.
Feel bad for Philip Lowrie as well, what a waste. To think a writer shed a tear over writing for Dennis back in the 1960s as he loved the character, I wonder how many writers feel that strongly now.
Sad to see Dennis go I remember him from the old days and always enjoyed his character.
Why are the writers continually babying up Simon? He is 11 (looks 13) why does he constantly need babysitting. He doesn't appear to have any friends whatsoever. When my son was his age he got himself up, made his breakfast and walked to school with his mates (my husband and I were working)after school he did his paper route. The writers have got to let the kid grow up.
It is strange with Simon, this is a kid who could get home from Blackpool all by himself only aged 6, however he is 11 years old and apparently cannot venture outside the front door himself. Silly writing. Why are Maddeh and Sawfie shoehorned into other character's lives all of a sudden anyway?
Why exactly is it any of Nick's business who his mother kisses? If I threw a strop at who my mother was dating, she would tell me where to go...
