Michael Le Vell wants your old shoes

Michael Le Vell, who plays Coronation Street's Kevin Webster, has launched an appeal in Stockport for unwanted shoes to raise funds for a children's hospice.

Michael visited sports retailer Decathlon, where the world's largest shoe has been given a temporary home as part of the 'Save Old Soles' campaign. Members of the public can drop their old footwear into the giant shoe to raise money for Francis House Children's Hospice.

The shoes will be collected by Bag It Up, which provides 60 clothing and textile recycling banks for Francis House in Greater Manchester and Cheshire East.

Michael said: "I think it's a great idea to not only donate your old shoes for recycling but to help Francis House who I have supported for many years. Lots of people throw away their old shoes but if they visit the store they can drop them into the big shoe and help vital raise funds. I'm a natural shoe hoarder myself, I think we tend to hang onto shoes longer than we need to, but I'd ask everyone to have a sort out, bring their unwanted shoes along and show their support."
