If you're in Manchester later this year, you might be interested to know there's a couple of Coronation Street tours you can join.
The first is run by
Mark Lllewllin through the Oldham Chronicle newspaper. It takes place on Wednesday October 27th. The tour will depart from the Oldham Chronicle offices (OL1 1EQ) at 10am and return at about 4.30pm. The tour takes in Richard Hillman's death spot, the Register office, parish church, Weathefield Quays, Red Rec, passing the studios and a number of other locations too - and Mark will be filling you in on how it's all put together, the history and so on. Visit Manchester who are offering a 50 Years of Coronation Street tour on Saturday 11 December at 11:00 & 14:00. Pre-booking is essential - email

Here's some more info about the 50 Years of Coronation Street guided walk in December:
It will be led by a professionally qualified Manchester Tour Guide (ITG) and will last approximately 1.5 hours. It'll take in some of the Manchester city centre locations used in The Street, e.g. the hotel where Kevin and Molly stayed, and the canal where Tony pushed Roy in. We'll also see where some of the actors have lived (and still do) and stayed whilst filming.
Unfortunately, we can't get onto The Street itself, but we will visit the entrance to the outdoor set, where you can catch a glimpse of part of it. All this will be inter-spaced with entertaining tales and trivia about Corrie, and the cast who have been in it over the past 50 years.
It costs £6 for adults, £5 for concessions and pre-booking (and pre-payment) are required.
