William Roache on Countdown this week

Due to the odd hours I work, I caught William Roache in Dictionary Corner on Channel 4's Countdown this morning at 5.15am.

I see that he is on later today and again tomorrow, at the saner time of 3.25pm, although Countdown is usually repeated at around 5 or 6am as well.

In the programme I saw, he related an anecdote about his early days in acting, and when host Jeff Stelling asked him about his longstanding role as Ken Barlow in Coronation Street, and if he minded people mistakenly calling him "Ken", he revealed that even his own father had referred to him as "Ken" on one occasion.

I've seen a couple of these this week. In one he recounted a story of injuring Graham Haberfield (Jerry Booth) during some hi-jinks. In the other how there is a cobble outside the Rovers which is a different colour to the rest because it was used as his mark for the live 40th birthday episode.
