Shock news in from The Sun today is that little Simon Barlow is going to get kidnapped by Grandad George.
The paper says that George snatches Simon from the school gates, leaving Peter at his wits' end. Peter then calls the cops and goes to George's house to confront him but gets arrested for assault. By the time Peter's released from the cop shop, George has already gone into hiding in Blackpool with Simon. In the dramatic scenes to air in March, George uses his sway with the Weatherfield authorities to get legal custody over Simon. Boo, hiss, etc!

I'm not a fan of this twist...
I don't like this storyline either
I think Simon would be better off with George. Nice house, nice wife, could give him a good life instead of living in the smoke filled one bed flat above a bookies with a dad that never really wanted him and nearly killed him in a booze fuelled fire.
I knew it !!!! I knew he was after Simon!!!
Ditto Tvor - I didn't trust grandad George from the outset.
This sounds good, but I did actually like the idea of him being a nice, normal person just getting to know his grandson.
How could anyone reasonably suggest that this child is better off with an alcoholic dead beat like Peter. Living in a smoke filled room over a bookies....I ask you. Letting a child breathe in all that poisonous smoke should be a criminal offence. Thank goodness that poor child has been removed from that ghastly environment.
ridiculous no good storyline at all
I hadn't read The Sun so missed this piece of shock news, but I had worked it out for myself and as I work for a law firm, I asked those in the know just what George could do - http://bit.ly/955jUh
I don't think Simon is better of with George, he's only known him two minutes and the man is makavelian in the extreme. Yes Peter has problems, but Simon has a loving family around him and George can't make the unilateral decision that he should have custody of him. Ken would be just as good as caring for him, and he would be on the street he has come to know as home rather than with a practical stranger. In short, George is a C**T trying to make up for his own failings of a father.
