New Corrie character Chelsey - but what does she want with Carla?

Next week on Coronation Street we'll see a new character called Chelsey. She'll turn up on Friday 12 June and she's a bit of a scally.

Chelsey walks into the Rovers Returns and when she spots Carla, she starts quizzing Sean about her. Sean tells her she is his boss.

When Carla nips to the loo Chesley follows her and tells her she knows her.

Just who is this mystery girl?  I wonder if it's got anything to do with the start of Carla's missing weekend storyline that producer Iain MacLeod said would be revealed soon?

Chesley is played by Isobella Hubbard, an actress and director, known for Redistributors (2016), Making It (2015) and Outlander (2014).

The last thing our Street needs is more characters. At least when the virus hits, social distancing will give most of them a rest!

I agree. Why do new characters always start off being nasty? Shona who is all sweetness and light (pre being shot) started off as dodgy, Gemma was really horrible, Anna Windass was nasty at first too.
She looks a bit Natalie who was trying to blackmail Nick and David.

Those who have been watching a long time will remember that even Sally was nasty when she first arrived on the Street.

In my humble opinion the cast is way over bloated as it is. There are characters in dire need of proper storylines. Am not looking forward to another nasty chav.

I am really hoping, probably in vain, that the enforced holiday from the Street will result in producer and scriptwriterS having a major purge of minor characters, and a major surge of happy feelgood stories.

Hopefully she has a minor role because if there's one thing killing the show, it's the sheer amount of characters. Way, way too many. And they keep adding more!
Still I'm grateful Carla's getting a look in. She used to be intrgral to the show and now she barely gets a look in. Pity...
