Georgia Taylor calls for the return of Spider and Toyah

In this week's fab Inside Soap magazine there's a good, long interview with Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby. Georgia talks about her upcoming storyline where she and Imran consider fostering.

But far better than that, for this fan, was this little snippet which she said.

"I loved working with Martin Hancock, who played Spider. He and Toyah split up off screen and they haven't seen each other in about 15 years, so it would be interesting to see what Toyah's first love is up to now."

As a HUGE fan of Spider, I can only keep my fingers crossed that we might one day see him back on screen.  And as for him getting back with Toyah, that'd be ideal as I reckon Toyah and Imran have zero chemistry together.  They are a couple who have never worked for me.

What do you reckon?

I think that Toyah has zero chemistry with anybody. She was the same with Peter as well

Agree about Imran and Peter, but she was part of the spark that made the three sisters work so well; she needs the right person. She also needs a real job about which she has some passion. I don’t remember her with a Spider very well but they weren’t uninteresting. He could always come back under the guise of doing a favor for Aunt Emily or cousin Freida.

When the sisters came to the Street, they were part of a dead rough family. The writers toned them down after complaints about how common they were. Leanne hasn't moved too far away from her original personality, just matured. But Toyah is a young professional and has become middle class. She speaks in carefully modulated tones even with Leanne and it sounds like she's trying to talk proper. Would be nice if she let her hair down now and again with her sister so they could briefly get back in the old routine. I agree with abbyk, Toyah needs the right person. It's also true of other characters. I'm not wild about Gemma but she works really well with Jenny.

I haven't been keen on the return of Toyah and I'd like her ex hubby or Spider to return and for this coupling to leave the street together. I still don't understand why, if she's a counsellor, why is she working at the factory as a machinist? Couldn't she set up her own practice or find a job elsewhere, out of the area?
After the big baby plot with Peter, I don't think the writers know what to with her, really.

Toyah is working in the sales office along with Alina, Michael and a mystery girl who seemed to be the only one actually doing some work.

Sharon Boothyard,Toyah was fired as a counselor after it came out she hid Ali's addiction from Dr Gaddas hence her working for her 'brother -in law Nick.
Besides Toyah lost any credability as a 'counselor' when she kept little Susie for herself denying a grieving Johnny his only granddaughter the first few months of her life.
As for Spider,he was a nasty self centered character and since I like Imram,I wouldn't want to see Toyah leave him for Spider.

The factory now has more sales staff than machinists. Have they got anything to sell?!

Martin Hancock has had quite an interesting run of characters. You can look him up on IMDB.com
