The previews are in from ITV for next week’s Coronation Street and Izzy gets a new fella in her life. Unfortunately for Izzy, it’s dopey Derek, Gary’s mate! But Izzy knows nothing about the real connection between Derek and Gary of course.
In the Rovers, there’s a spark between Izzy and Derek. Derek’s horrified to learn that Gary’s the father of Izzy’s son. Derek confesses to Izzy that he has a terrible drink problem and when Izzy offers to support Derek in his battle against the booze, he asks her on a date.
Back from visiting Nicola and Zack, Gary’s seething to learn from Nick that Derek’s been signing contracts granting rent reductions in his absence. He’s even more gobsmacked to spot Derek and Izzy heading to Speed Daal on a date.

As Nick's 'partner' isn't that what Derek is supposed to do sign papers and contracts?
As for Izzy,considering that he shown no concern for her safety[or anyone else's except for Sarah]when he sabotage the factory roof,Gary who also dumped Izzy twice for Alya and Sarah has no right deciding who Izzy can date.
Gary is finding that it is hard to be a thug. Thwarted at every turn, see. Gary is a Thwarted Thug, and he does not like it.
