How would you describe Kate and Lolly’s relationship before Lolly came to the Street?
Kate hadn’t seen Lolly for years, she’s one of those friends that you lose contact with and you aren’t quite sure why but then when you reconnect you start to remember why you didn’t stay so close! But what Kate remembers is that Lolly was great fun and she is excited she is back at first.
What do Kate and Rana make of Lolly’s hen party ideas?
It isn’t what they had planned but Lolly is very forceful. She has already been monopolising Kate and taking her out drinking, leaving Rana out. First of all she says she is booking a drag queen, the girls are really not sure, they compromise and agree to a small do at The Bistro. She ignores them and books strippers!
When they aren’t impressed does Kate feel like she is stuck in the middle because Lolly is her old friend or is she firm about what her and Rana want?
At first Kate does feel a bit stuck in the middle and thinks that lolly is just wanting to have fun but the sabotage of the hen night is a step too far and Rana realises she has to make a big gesture to show Kate how much she loves her and make her realise what is important.
Is Lolly jealous of Kate and Rana’s closeness?
Lolly is clearly jealous, her own marriage didn’t work out and you get the impression she is trying to get something back with Kate that she used to have but this isn’t the Kate she knew, a lot has happened to Kate and she would hate Lolly to come between her and Rana.
What do you think would have been the ideal hen party for Kate and Rana?
Definitely not strippers and a drag queen! They wanted something low key and intimate, wine and nice food with friends and family at the Bistro, yes they want to have fun but not the sort of things lolly has in mind, Lolly is larger than life and does everything to the max, that isn’t Kate and Rana’s style.
What’s Kate’s first thoughts when she sees the bespoke outfit Rana has had made?
Kate is absolutely blown away that Rana has done this. Rana knew Kate had a certain outfit in mind but they couldn’t afford it, they don’t have a big budget. Rana has gone to the lengths of working with Beth on making her perfect dream outfit and that means everything to Kate.
You’ve said before that it’s ‘very Kate’ - why?
Kate’s style is girly but with a bit of a tomboy twist, she likes things that are a bit different so the wedding outfit is perfect. It is a white lace jumpsuit that at first glance looks like a dress but is actually wide trousers. It is elegant and sophisticated but a but quirky.
What is going through Kate’s head when Lolly confronts her in the Rovers?
By this time Kate’s eyes have been well and truly opened to what Lolly is like. She knows how desperate Lolly is to to impress and when Lolly overhears her saying that she is furious and confronts her, Kate is just angry at this point as Lolly was sneering at them going off to see her wedding outfit. Lolly storms off but Kate isn’t really bothered. It is Rana who goes after Lolly to try and smooth things over.
How much does Kate agree with Rana that Lolly should be uninvited?
Kate is 100% in agreement with that decision. She can’t believe that Lolly was trying to come between them and she realises how close she got to causing a real rift between her and Rana and there is no way Kate could cope with that.
What’s Kate’s reaction to Lolly’s claims that Rana fancies her?
Kate realises at this point just how far Lolly is prepared to go and she just wants her out of their lives.
How dangerous do you think Lolly is? Should Kate and Rana be worried?
Lolly is really dangerous, she is very clever and very manipulative and Kate and Rana don’t know the half of what she is capable of. They should be really worried and they make a shocking discovery that could ruin the wedding after they have sent her packing.
What advice would you give to Kate in this situation?
Kate has a heart of gold and trusts people too easily. She was excited that someone from her past who knew her and Aidan and her family was suddenly around and she was blinkered to what was really going on. I would tell Kate to be a little more wary of thinking everyone has good intentions as sadly some people do not.
What reaction have you had to Kate and Rana’s upcoming wedding?
There is a real buzz, the fans have been amazing. Kate and Rana deserve their gorgeous day and their gorgeous dresses, they have been through so much everyone is just hoping they get to say their vows and show the world how much they have overcome. It’s been so exciting and emotional to film.
