Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 23rd July

Kayla tries to talk Craig out of doing turning everything in the flat on and off before she drives him to his medical assessment, but on the way there, she slams on the brakes and Audrey and Gail run into the back of her. This stresses out Craig so much that he misses the medical and returns to the flat to do his rituals, which Kayla agrees to, telling him that bad things happen around him. A hysterical Craig says he needs to go to hospital and Kayla takes him there, but lies to the receptionist, saying they're just waiting for a friend. She leaves him in A&E, telling him that if he moves or speaks to anyone, he's dumped.

Bethany, meanwhile, looks at CCTV and concludes that despite what Kayla claimed, she wasn't braking for a cat, and must've caused the accident non-accidentally. She's determined to i) find Craig and ii)  expose Kayla and so turns down Ryan (dressed as both Kevin and Perry going large)'s free trip to Ibiza. She gets Kayla's address and turns up at her house, where she finds....a picture of Kayla and Nasty Neil. It looks likes the game's up for Krazy Kayla - until she smashes a vase over Bethany's head!

Kevin is struggling to getting his head around the changes he'll need to make to accommodate Jack's amputation. Sophie offers to move back in to help and Tyrone offers to move out. However it's not necessary as the hospital are transferring him to a unit in Liverpool. But it doesn't go well when Jack meets the prostheticist and he doesn't want to look at the blades being suggested to him.

Ty tells Fiz that he wants to move back home; unfortunately Fiz thinks that means she has to leave  and Izzy offers her a bed - pity she wasn't around when Sean was looking for a place, hey? After a pep-talk from Kevin, Tyrone meets Fiz in t'pub and they arrange a date for later, which is unfortunately interrupted by the news of Tyrone's mum's death. I'm a bit disappointed that Jackie has been killed off - Margi Clarke was always good value. Anyway, hopefully this will bring Fiz and Ty (Tiz? Fy?) back together as the storyline is dragging on a bit.

Maria's Cut Price Crimping is under threat as Audrey has realised that you can't run a business from a rented flat. Maria therefore does Tracy's hair chez Barlow and, distracted by Liam, who's just found Tracy's furry handcuffs in her handbag, she burns Tracy's hair. As well as not having registered with Companies House or HMRC, Maria also doesn't have public liability insurance - there's more to setting up a business than buying some TRESemmé, Maria! Audrey is regretting Maria's absence as she's run off her 78 year old feet and is exhausted, but she doesn't tell Maria that.

Meanwhile, Beth and Kirk are having a flat-warming party, that flat they've acquired by carrying out industrial espionage, not to mention sabotage, and Beth has the gall to be put out that Tracy has brought Abi along. I'm enjoying Abi's increased visibility and new storylines moving away from heroin and "the twins". I've a little feeling that the writers are going to put her and Steve together - he has a history of fancying rough diamond skinny blondes, and of course it would cause a bucket load of conflict with her new BFF, Miss Tracy of Barlow.

And finally, Carla makes a tearful appeal to Eva not to press charges against Johnny.

Is anyone else confused as to why Bethany would be attracted to Ryan when he looks like a young Neil? Just saying, or am I the only one to notice this? The little cocoa mustache, same hair and the thin fox like face.

Oh what fun, Steve and Abi. He would be nice to her children too.
