Liz Dawn's best moments as Corrie's Vera Duckworth

She was loud, she was brash and she was Coronation Street through and through. Will we ever see the likes of Vera Duckworth again?  It's been a sad day indeed with the news that actress Liz Dawn, who played Vera for over 30 years, has passed away. Our condolences and thoughts go to her family.

As Vera, she was always entertaining. Here's one of my favourite clips of her from teh show.

And here's a lovely YouTube of the best of Vera's laughs!

And here's a short clip where Liz Dawn talks about why she left Coronation Street.

The BBC website have a beautiful tribute to Liz Dawn as Vera Duckworth here.

When I saw her pic online I wondered what is Liz Dawn up to now. It did not occur to me that she would be dead. That is a testament to how she played the larger than life character of Vera. I truly appreciate the years she gave us in making that character iconic. Memorable is certainly a word for the lady. Sad to see she is gone.

My favourite "Vera" moment was when she was bragging to "Jack" about being of "royal blood"; she even referred to the Prince of Wales as "cousin Charles". Thanks for all the good memories Liz Dawn and may you rest in peace.

Aw, I had heard that she had been unwell for a long time. Vera is my all time favourite. Wishing her friends and family well at this time.

Bobby Knutt also died the same day ... he was also in Corrie, but only for a few years in the early 80's.
