In this week's Inside Soap magazine, there's a good interview with Sally Lindsay, who played Shelley Unwin on Coronation Street.
Sally talks fondly about her time on Corrie and says this: "I'd love to come back to it in years to come. Betty Driver (Betty Williams) didn't join until she was 58 so there's plenty of time I love Corrie - always have, always will."
Talking about working on Corrie, she says: "Corrie was the best training course of my life. I learned everything there - everything. I had to learn lines quickly and because everything turns over so rapidly, you learn to trust your instincts while working with brilliant actors like William Roache (Ken Barlow). He's amazing. He never forgets his lines or was late on set. You look up to people like that."
She pays tribute to Betty Driver and says: "Betty could fill a room with her presence and was such a good woman. She looked after people and gave generously of her time and I think I've always aspired to be like that because of her. Right to the end she was giving people autographs when she went for a little walk in hospital. She was always very kind, sometimes it's hard to be kind in this business but she always was She was a great mate, and hilarious with it. She was lovely."
Sally is starring in Ordinary Lies on BBC1 at 9pm on Tuesday nights.

Lovely comments about Betty. I hope Sally does return one day, she's terrific
YES PLEASE! I would happily get the McDonalds out of the pub for Shelley again. I absolutely loved Shelley as a landlady.
Loved her as well! It would be great to see her behind the bar again.
I would love to see Shelley back, AND her mum Bev. Perhaps this could be done to tie in with Deirdre's exit storyline? Deirdre is meant to be staying with Bev at the moment. However, Sally Lindsay is a little 'out' with her calculations of Betty's age. Betty was born in 1920, so must have only been 49 when she joined Corrie in 1969.
Ahhh Sally....one of my most favourite Corrie girls....yes....here's *hoping* Sally will return to the Rovers....excellent actress!
Whilst I'd love to see Sally back on the street, sadly we wouldn't see much of her due to the saturation of the Platt's/ Windstrongs. The cast is over flowing to busting yet we continue to see the same faces. Such a shame.
Her dumping Charlie at the alter and marching through the streets in her wedding gown is one of my favourites! Great actress.
Absolutely NOT . Characters have their time and Shelly has had hers and it rarely works as things have moved on.
I loved Shelley too but I agree with Frosty on this, I don't think there's much connection there for her. It would be nice to see her for a visit, say, for Deirdre's funeral but not back full time.
Gorgeous woman and a great actress too. Would be a breath of fresh air to see her back..especially with Peter Kay in tow :) :)
