Teaming Julie up with Comedy Dev seems to be an inspirational choice. Jules had been floundering a little since she ditched Brian. Despite living on the Street, we've never seen the inside of her flat. You just know it's going to be a sea of gingham throws and Cath Kidston cake stands but we, the viewer, need to be invited in. Julie is obviously in the throes of some sort of community service as she has been charged with the task of rescuing Dev. As well as having to cope with his own loud outburst at INAPPROPRIATE moments, the Dev-ster was also falling under the spell of Weatherfield's own dark lady, the loveably loopy Mary. She used to be Scary Mary of course and had this been a few years ago, she would have had Julie burning to death in a wicker man by now.
Instead we get a touching story of unrequited love and Julie helping Dev to do the right thing by Mary. The latter is now an integral part of the Alahan family, It's been one of those surprising relationships that Corrie often hurls at us. Becky and Clare, Ken and Carla and more recently, Norris and Craig show us that friendships can be formed by the most opposite of people.

Is Julie now entering her Corrie prime? Well, she managed to ditch the doctor from Holby City mid-date and is now cosying up with Dev. We can but hope that she becomes a permanent fixture. Her 'to do' list should include cleansing number 7 of that slightly 'butch' make-under that has festered since Sunita's Baps were in charge. Gingham and polka dots to the fore! Julie also needs to take her rightful position behind the counter at the Corner Shop. She is shopkeeper gold and would offer a warmer welcome than her bellowing beau or the mumbling So-feh. Julie might be more Maureen Holdsworth than Maggie Clegg but to paraphrase Rihanna, she will shine bright like a diamond. Or maybe something diamonique from Barlow's Buys.Katy Cavanagh is one of the Street's most expressive actors and has the ability to make the viewer care what happens to Julie. Devulie - Corrie's new golden couple. Yay or nay?

I was worried that people would find this pairing a bit odd, as Dev isn't Corrie's most popular character. But I think it's working out well so far. Add to that Dev's touching scene with Mary on Friday, which brought me to tears, it's a great development for Corrie. Lots of light hearted a comically brilliant moments.
oh Yay!!! and kudos for finding that excellently wicked photo of Dev!!!! Always loved Julie and while i liked her and Brian together, Brian turned out to be a spineless prat. Julie will bring a bit of joy back into Dev's life and he'll give her the family she so needs.
Julie and Mary are my 2 favourite characters. Julie for her sweetness, kindness and nurturing nature. I'm glad they have a meaningful storyline for her.
Mary, are lovely ecclectic soul, I wish they would do something meaningful with her. She is a brilliant actress. IMHO THese ladies, along with Carla, and Tracy are the ONLY reason I am still watching Corrie. All of these ladies make the newbies look dull...wooden, and pointless.
Corrie needs at least one couple who are a constant in the show, like Roy and Hayley, Derek and Mavis. Dev and Julie can be tempted but never actually do anything to wreck the relationship. Definitely, Julie should be in the shop and, hopefully, Sophie will move on to other things. Did I read that Mary is to get a love interest? Perhaps Julie plays match-maker.
Absolutely yay! Love Julie and her retro style. She deserves to be in the shop, and will be a huge asset to Dev. Wouldn't have put them together but I think it could work really well long term.
Yay. I love them together. The scenes last night were a joy.

I do hope Mary does get her own love interest as I really felt sorry for her being seen as Dev's nanny and nothing more.
I hoped that in time that Dev would see Mary in a different light as she is kind too and was devoted to Dev's children during the worst time in their lives after their mother's murder.I cannot help but find it ironic that Dev would fall for Julie who along with her sister and fireman Paul falsely accused a deceased Sunita of starting the Rover's fire and not Mary who always believed in Sunita's innocence.

Anon 00:38 yes it is nice to see people reacting positively to a storyline for once since most of the time the comments are usually people complaining about this or complaining about that.
Brilliant pairing of Julie and Dev! Would like to see the Aunties visit and ther reaction to Julie. Wonderful scene with Dev telling Mary how much the family needs her....softening the bitter blow that Dev was not romantically interested in her.
