Preview of tonight's Coronation Street - Weds 12 November

Wednesday 12th November
CARLA’S MESSAGE TO PETER HAS A FINAL RING TO IT. Michelle calls at No.1 and hands Peter an envelope containing Carla’s wedding ring. Peter’s day goes from bad to worse when Steph lays into him, pointing out that had Tina never met him, she’d still be alive. Ken’s later horrified to find a bottle of vodka secreted in Peter’s jacket. At breaking point Peter drops a bombshell on Ken.
CHESNEY REACHES HIS TIPPING POINT WITH CILLA. With Chesney unable to babysit Joseph, Cilla steps into the breach. But as Cilla looks after him she slips and falls, damaging her back. In pain, she heads off to the doctors leaving Joseph with Craig and Faye. Arriving home Chesney’s horrified to find his son in the care of Craig and Faye. Will he soften when Cilla returns from A&E and explains she’s fractured a vertebra?
AN EMBITTERED TODD RETURNS TO THE FAMILY FOLD. Todd returns home from hospital. Eileen, Jason and Eva fuss round him. Todd points out that if they’d always been this keen to spend time with him, he wouldn’t have been attacked!
ELSEWHERE As an embarrassed Tim embarks on his first reading lesson with Anna he lies to Sally, telling her he’s out cleaning windows. But when Sally checks Tim’s sponge and finds it bone dry she wonders where he’s really been. Kal’s furious to discover Tony’s not paying Zeedan minimum wage.

What is Chesney's problem? Don't teenagers babysit in Weatherfield? Craig & Faye would make great babysitters. Joseph's not an infant, whose care requires more specialization. His parents haven't exactly been ideal models. Maybe Ches's reaction is actually unacknowledged guilt for the ignoring and fobbing off that he & Katy have done.

Why are people in Weatherfield always whinging. Todd doing the poor old me act and Simon banging on about bloody Tina again!

Dont you have to be a certain age to babysit? Do either of them have any childcare experience, both are only children. Kids are not toys you know!

Faye is 12 and has helped with Joseph before, as well as Izzy's son. According to spoilers, she'll soon be a mother herself! Craig is 16, not exactly a child. Technically, he could be a father himself, and he's managed to keep his rat alive for several years, under difficult circumstances, so there's some level of conscientiousness there. He's an intelligent, caring boy. Between the 2 of them, they could manage to take care of Joseph for a few hours, and the whole street's available for backup!

But remember what happened when Faye and Grace were entrusted with looking after Simon? Actually, come to think of it - the writers evidently forgot about that too as we never did find out what happened after that?!!

It never ceases to amaze me that no one on Corrie ever pays for a babysitter! They dump their children on whatever neighbour is available. Craig is a nice lad and quite capable of looking after a toddler for a few hours. Chesney needs to lighten up.

Chesney has morphed into a miserable old man, always snarking on about who is looking after his kid - when he himself rarely seems to be available! He's a nasty control-freak in the making and as Joseph is his child, I'm pretty sure it's called parenting, not babysitting.

Todd has well and truly turned into a psychopath, blaming his family for (very rightly) avoiding him and for an attack they could neither predict nor prevent. There is nothing redeemable about this character because if we ever find out what makes him tick, I for one will not care.

Thanks for the laugh, anon.!

Really have to wonder what makes Anna think she is qualified to teach Tim to read. Can't help thinking that they are going to pair the two of them up as an item before long. Which I predicted months and months ago, when Tim first came on the scene, could see it coming a mile away.

How could Chesney, who decided to be a parent at 16, think that 16 is not old enough to babysit? Crazy.
