It's time to meet another Corrie fan of the week.
Would you like to be our Coronation Street fan of the week?
Click here to find out more.
Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Kate. I’m originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, but am living in (that!) London at the moment.
How long have you been watching Corrie?
My parents always had it on when I was growing up, but the earliest storylines I can remember well are from the mid-late 90s.
Who are your favourite female and male characters - and the reasons why?
My favourite female characters are Deirdre, Audrey, and Sally. I think all three are classic Corrie women, portrayed with that key combination of humour and drama. For some reason my favourite male character is harder to choose. I don't really have a favourite. At the moment I'm liking Jason and David – although I think we need to see the dastardly side of David again sometime soon! And Craig is a great addition - I'd love to see him in more scenes! Of those that are gone, Jack Duckworth stands out.
What's been some of your favourite Corrie storylines over the years?
It’s an obvious one but I don’t think anything will ever quite be like the Richard Hillman storyline for me. What I liked in particular is that it was quite drawn-out: we saw the seeds of his true character early on and got to see it play out, gradually getting worse, for a long time. “You should’ve stayed at the party, Maxine!” is one of my favourite Corrie one-liners!
And what would your fantasy Corrie storyline be?
I would like them to do something with Mary as well as I think she has real potential but is underused. I’d like to see Sophie and Maddie split up and Sophie go on to do something with her life. I would like to see a return of some of the other Battersbys (I’d have loved Janice to have given a piece of her mind to Stella!) and -- I know she's controversial -- but Jackie Dobbs too.
Have you any snippets or news about meeting any of the Corrie cast, or trips to the set, etc., that you'd like to share?
I just toured the old set in September with my mum and sister, which was fantastic. I haven't met any of them properly but did see Michelle Collins in a shop very near to where I live in London.
