Coronation Street set tours to continue
It has been announced today that the Coronation Street set tours will remain open into 2015. We have previously reported that the site will be demolished next year but I guess that this announcement means that dates on that are still quite fluid.
The site will close for a short period in November allowing operator Continuum to transform Weatherfield into a winter wonderland, complete with snow covered roof tops, a stunning Christmas tree on the cobbles, Christmas carols and other festive treats and surprises.
In 2015 there will also be some new additions, both in the studio exhibition with set elements brought over from Coronation Street’s new home in Media City, and out on the Street itself with areas opened up to the public for the first time.
Juliana Delaney, Chief Executive of Continuum Leading Attractions said:
“I am thrilled to announce we have been able to extend the opening of the attraction. The feedback we have received so far has been phenomenal and I’m so pleased those who have yet to experience the tour will now have the chance to.
The extension paves the way for us to make some exciting changes to the attraction and give past and present visitors a chance to see something new.”
The set opened to the public in April 2014 for a limited period of six months before development of the site was to take place. Although the tour will remain open longer, it will eventually close to make way for a cultural quarter, hotels and residential development by Allied London.
Tickets post October 31st will go on sale from 12noon on Monday 20th October and can be purchased from www.ticketmaster.co.uk/coronationstreet.

The press release from Continuum doesn't say how long the extension is but checking the booking website shows dates available up to the end of March 2015.
