Sarah Platt to return in the New Year

ITV today has released the news that Sarah Lou Platt will be returning to Weatherfield in the spring next year.  Tina O'Brien will be reprising her role and is looking forward to returning. Sarah will be bringing her 14 year old daughter, Bethany, with her and by all accounts, Bethany will be a handful. (aren't they all?) Sarah may cause ructions in the family fabric as well.

Sarah has been living in Italy since 2007 so I do hope we see signs that she speaks Italian.  Meanwhile, since her exit, Ms. O'Brien has become a mum twice over, with her newest child, a boy, born earlier this week.

I take this is permanent then?

And about blooming time too. But don't tell me she'll be shoehorned into that already overcrowded house!

I wondered about this just the other day - weird!
That will be an interesting dynamic - her old boyfriend Jason with Eva, Todd back, Nick back, and David the voice of reason in the family!
It will be an interesting mix for sure.

I always hoped she'd be back as Tina is a good actress. I expect Bethany will return with a Northern english accent. Remember Peter Barlow spent 30 years in Scotland and no sign of a Scottish twang. It's a shame prat in a hat is still producer as i fear her character will either be ruined or under used. They need to get the casting right too for Bethany. SB has done an awful job at casting the Nazirs. 6330

I hate to tell everyone I told you so, but...

Pity though, I'd far rather it was Kelly Crabtree that was returning.

Well,Corrie has now officially become the Platt Show with Sarah's return. She better not throw her weight in the salon either and owes David an apology for framing him.

Since,Dennis,Jemma and Marcus were axed with claims of 'lack of storyline' to make room for Callum and Michael's son,I wonder who be next on the producers' chopping block again due to lack of storyline to make room for Sarah?

Sarah must be filling the void left by Kylie. Someone to row with Gail and David, and generally upset the Street. More of the Platt family saga... At least, Jenny Bradley doesn't belong to a clan that will come trailing behind her. Corrie has far too many of them already.

Anon 16:18 That explains why all last week the focus has been on the trial of Peter Barlow

I wonder if Sarah is being brought back to extend the "Todd scarred for life" to help redeem him? Agree, it's a bit too much Platt.

I know this won't please everyone, but I'm really happy about this return. I liked the character and actress, and it always seemed ridiculous Sarah never visited! (I know there would be off-screen logistical reasons for this though). Much more pleased about this than Jenny Bradley!

Mr B seems obsessed with bringing back old characters when he doesnt seem to know what to do with the present cast. No doubt Bethany will be a brattish teen. What for Sarah Lou - an affair with someone on the Street - YAWN.

Dear John - I think its called having an opinion which is what this Board is for. Often what Frosty says is true.

I don't mind Frosty having an opinion nor do I mind him criticizing certain aspects what I do mind is the constant criticism and carping. To the point when he even deliberately makes things up in order to justify his criticism.

While I can't say it makes me happy as editor of this Blog to have criticism on every blog post from Frosty, you have to give him his due - he's probably right - and at least he's consistent in his approach! :-)

Great news. I can't wait to see Sarah Lou again and to meet the grown up Bethany. Although I'm prepared to be a bit let down after the personality transplant that they gave to Todd

Sarah Lou has been working in fashion in Milan. Maybe that will include in lingerie So she'll go work for Carla, or buy into the factory.

Frosty may roll his eyes at the idea of a brattish Bethany, but it would defy logic if she didn't turn out to be a handful. Her casting will be a stretch. She will have to be bi-lingual, presumably with her Italian more dominant than her English. And you'd expect her to be precocious. At 14, she's now older than Sarah Lou was when she gave birth. She is going to be a right square peg trying to adjust from Milan to Weatherfield. I predict she goes straight after someone like Zeedan or Luke - a guy who is too old for her, but probably still no match either!
