Georgia May Foote who is leaving Coronation Street as Katy Armstrong, has revealed she was "a bit gutted" when she found out she was leaving the soap.
Georgia told OK! magazine: "I was a bit gutted that leaving Corrie wasn't my decision - it's like a boyfriend dumping you first - but I'm really excited. If anything, it's given me that kick I needed to move on to other things."
Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn said this about Georgia leaving: “Katy will not be killed off and the door will be left open for a possible return."

I thought she and Chesney were good together and could have matured together but instead she had to have an affair. Too bad:(
All the new and newer actors should not be counting on their stint at this show to be last and only meal ticket. Come on now... even in the old days, one never knew if a character got killed off or just written off. So this actress indeed should be hustling and ringing up her management/agent for her next gig or next couple of gigs. There's no job security in this biz or any other biz unless of course you play Ken Barlowe or Kevin Webster in Corrie.
I wish this actress well. But I'm not sorry for Katy to exit. Her character was going nowhere. Perhaps the actress should have seen this ending of her mealticket coming rattled the cages so that her agent/management co. could drum up more business for her or at least a next paying gig no matter how small. One cannot, especially, these days even in the soap TV world rely on long stints -- this I'm sure everyone in show biz knows all too well.
I wish her the best of luck but Katie was going nowhere I am afraid. They ruined her when they put her with Ryaaaaan and she had little presence and was pretty enough but rather bland.
I wish her well. She just wasn't right paired with Chesney and they couldn't think what else to do with her. I'm sure she'll be popping up somewhere else soon.
She's a doll and no doubt will be snatched up by another soap. The producers really should have treated her better but..that's soapland for you.
