John Stape reappeared on the Street this week and then he went and died. But not before he gave this Corrie fan a right good chuckle when he kidnapped Rosie Webster for the second, and last time. To be kidnapped once by Stape is unfortunate. To be kidnapped twice is simply careless. He ties her up in the flat and with the help of charts and diagrams, forces Rosie to take in as much information as possible about his three murders so that she can be of some help in getting Fiz out of pris. She’s no help to anyone, but that’s by the by. It was a wonderful scene, with John marking Rosie’s homework in red pen while blaming her for starting his murdering spree. Jason and Kev soon figure out Rosie’s missing and burst in through the door. John escapes and scarpers off in his car at top speed with Kevin close behind. John’s car crashes and he’s rushed to th’ospickle where he later dies, but not before giving the cops a full confession. Will it be too late to save Fiz who’s been sent down for 15 years for killing Charlotte? Fiz asks Chesney to organise John’s funeral, and to his credit, Ches refuses to put the murdering no-mark to rest. Aw... and all he ever wanted to do was teach.
In Roy’s Rolls, Sylvia’s over the moon when she finds out she’s won a cruise in the competition that she entered with Mary’s slogan. Mary, as you can imagine, is not best pleased. Roy refuses to be drawn in but makes it clear to his mother that he’s not that happy with her either.
Over at Underworld, Carla undercuts Frank in the war of th'underpants to win an order for knickers that’ll have the girls and Sean on overtime in no time. How they’ll finish the order in time with no machines, no material and few staff remains to be seen but Carla isn’t going to let Frank win the deal.
Julie and Brian move into the flat above the old butcher shop. It’s a move that lifts up their lust level and they set about making babies - right after they unpack the kettle.
Chris continues to pretend that he’s dying (doncha just love soap?) in order to sweetheart Cheryl and get back his family. Poor Lloyd doesn’t know what’s going on but he ain’t going to be happy when he finds out.
And that's just about that for this week. Janet Waterhouse will be here next week.
This week’s writers were Joe Turner, John Kerr, Carmel Morgan, Jan McVerry, David Lane and Ellen Taylor. Find out more about the Coronation Street writing team at:

I found myself unexpectedly hoping Frank wins the knicker wars. When Carla responded to Sean's offer of help with: "Things are not that desperate", I wondered why anyone would be loyal to her at all.
The last time the workers were promised overtime, Carla decided not to pay it. Are the workers so dim that they would believe her promises, or indeed have any confidence in a boss who is so obviously incompetent? Carla is less and less credible as a business woman.
I really hope this feud is the end for the Factory. It's just becoming a joke and a real blot on the programme.
If Julie had enough room in her flat to have Janice move in with her, why would she want to move to a probably smaller flat with Brian? just so they can actually live on the Street? silly.
Carla has always left me cold. I think it's something to do with the flat delivery of the actress. Although the quote in the first blog is Carla's attempt at irony, she is really completely humourless. I'm just bored with the character (along with Cheryl etc)and don't care what happens to her. The community centre was central to many stories, but the Street survived when that went. Close the factory, for goodness sake. Only the Rovers is untouchable.
Mary threatens to take Sylvia to court over the cruise prize and following prolonged yet hilarious negotiations they agree to go on the cruise together thus giving them their own spin off web series and giving us some potential comedy gold.
