In a lovely gesture and a nod to its rival, a long standing character in EastEnders is going to mention Coronation Street next week.
One of the original characters, Dot Branning, is going to mention that she watches Corrie and never misses it. Thursday, December 9, which is the night of the actual 50th anniversary and will be the live episode, will see her tell Kat Moon that she's spending the night at home with her husband watching Corrie's 50th anniversary show.

Ooh what a nice touch! On one of the 1980s DVDs, there's a scene of Gail flicking through the TV, and you can here it say "next on Granada: Emmerdale Farm!" lol
I wonder if Daran Little's wrote that episode?!
This sounds delightful! Didn't Lou Beale or Ethel mention Corrie in the 80s? Of course, there is the theory that Lou, Ethel and Dot were modelled on another soap trio...
Yes, it's a Daran Little episode! No surprise there!
It's a lovely touch, but it means Corrie's fictional in Weatherfield - no more crossovers :(
I am sure that in the 1987 Christmas Day Episode of Eastenders, The Fowlers, Beales, Dot, Ethel and Den Watts were playing charades and one of the clues was a TV show and the answer was Coronation Street !
A very nice gesture. :)
