Corrie tram to be preserved in Museum

The Corrie tram has found itself a new home - The Museum of Science and Industry, which is right next door to the current set! The Manchester Evening News reports that MOSI were approached to see whether or not they wanted to take the tram - and they did!

MOSI are also in talks with Granada to see if they can preserve the current set as an attaction when Coronation Street moves to it's new home in Trafford in 2012.

MOSI hopes to have the tram on show when they fully reopen in January 2011, following a £7m revamp.

That sounds promising - about the old set being preserved...

If they do get their hands on the old set then I think it will certainly attract more people to the museum.

The only thing is if they do let them have the set I can't see how ITV would end up making any money out of it and the current set is situated on prime real estate land so I'm still doubtful that it will actually happen.

But if it does get the go ahead then all well and good. I've not visited Weatherfield since 1997.
