John and Charlotte - what do you think?

I'm no fan of John Stape, as regular readers may know, because he's taken the shine off our Fiz. But I have to admit I'm really enjoying his stolen identity, Colin Fishwick dead body and fruity Charlotte story. It's turning into a farce, with a dark humour edge, a storyline that I'm enjoying very much. But if John Stape does die in the tram crash, as rumours suggest, I'll not miss him and hope Fiz gets her sparkle back, whatever happens.

But I will always remember this storyline with a smile, it's been an unusual one to say the least, and I hope Charlotte makes her way into becoming a permanent character on Coronation Street too. But never mind me, what do you think?

FANTASTIC second episode, Corrie back at its best! Fiz dropped a Fizbomb on Charlotte :D and I really like Charlotte now xD

You're spot on there. I haven't seen tonight's eps yet but I am enjoying it too. If it didn't have Charlotte in the storyline it would have been really dire but she's perked it up considerably

All 3 of them, Fiz, John and Charlotte, were amazing tonight. Furious, remorseful and terrified, perfect and compelling and playing beautifully off each other.

I so hope they don't let John die. The ridiculous Colin story is working itself out (stupidly, but stupid is as stupid does). It's not post-war England; to have 2 young best friend widows on the street would be too much in 2010. PTB, please let him stay.

I think Charlotte is great and would be good as a permanent character, we need quirky characters like her to balance out the boring Maria/Sophie/Sian waste of air time. Charlotte's place (what a nice little house she lives in) was left like a Fiz Bomb had hit it last night!

Hard to see where the character of Charlotte would fit in long-term, but I'd love to see her stay for a while yet. Linking her with Mad Mary could make for a great double act.

I think it's a good job teachers have such long summer holidays; they couldn't have got away with being crime masterminds if they were accountants!

What I love about Corrie is that there's a laugh in even the blackest moments, whereas the Cockney one has no laughs. Snape stumbling about like a pickled dosser has me in stitches

Corrie is absolutely brilliant in it's ability to insert light moments into what otherwise would be too heavy.
It's what keeps it 'real' and I think that the "Cockney" one is trying to emulate Corrie's success in this area.
I've noticed that there have been a few more attempts at jokes and 'lighter moments'; they've a long way to go to rival Corrie and it's excellent writing and acting!

Well I love them both - I will be in "full mourning" if Stape ends up under a tram - what an utter waste. Charlotte has been fantastic. "John's OBSESSED with teaching..." and her face in the cracked mirror - wonderful stuff. Fiz was FAB last night also.

I think it was a clever move allowing the spoiler about the tram tragedy to be known.
It seems it's on everyone's mind all the time, having us wonder if our favourite, ( or least fave) character will be one of the ones killed.
( Must certainly be on the minds of the actors themselves too...)

I'm liking Charlotte too and would like to see her stay on, somehow.
She's showing much more range now that she's found herself in the kind of trouble she could do without.

My God, Fiz is back and fizzing! Watching her terrify Charlotte and trash her house, I found myself saying out loud "This is the first time I've ever seen her mother in her!"

You are so right Cobblestone, in fact Fiz even developed Cilla's nasty snarl. They say the apple doesnt fall far from the tree - LOL!

Yeah, but in this case, channeling Cilla is a good thing! :)))
