Gary Windass set for Afghanistan
The scarcely-seen Gary Windass is set to become a bomb-disposal expert in Afghanistan, it has been reported today.
After his AWOL spell earlier this year, he will overcome his fears and go out to fight on the frontline.
Full credit to Corrie and Mikey North for continuing with this storyline, I think they are doing a great job at mirroring the real-life issues that all members of a family experience when one of them goes to war.

Absolutely - I think this is a great idea.
It's a good storyline for Gary but one which means we don't see him often which is a shame... if you know what I mean.... :)
yes i agree John. He's finally settling down into a good character.
I didn't like the Windasses at first, but they quite grew on me. I think they were introduced more successfully than the Mortons; with the latter, it felt like we suddenly had 18 of them show up at once and try to establish themselves as being a bit dodgy. Badly done. I think the Windasses could end up being one of the classic Corrie families, and Gary has a lot of potential too.
