The paper reveals that Eileen and Paul's storyline will take a bizarre twist when Paul tells Eileen that Lesley’s carer won’t be able to look after her any more.
He tells Eileen: “It looks like I’ll be having to cope on my own. I may even have to leave the service.”
Eileen offers to look after Lesley when Paul is working. But she soon realises she’s bitten off more than she can chew.

When has common sense ever had anything to do with the story line?
TPTB will write anything to further the plot line no matter how ridiculous, inappropriate or impossible.
Isn't Eileen working for Frank, if that's the case, she may be available soon if the house of cards Frank's built comes tumbling down...
I agree, she's not qualified and why couldn't Paul get another woman from whatever agency he was using? Sounds like a lame storyline to me........get Eileen back at Streetcars!!
Does Eileen have any carer experience, she doesnt seem a very sympathetic character to me. Its just so she and Paul can hop into bed together whenever Lesley is asleep - awful. Paul seems such a nerd as well.
I think this is a great storyline. Eileen clearly isn't qualified and it shows that not everybody can be or should be a carer. It shows that being a carer should be a paid, professional position and I think that a valid point is being made by the Alzheimer's Trust, who Corrie are working with on this story. It couldn't be better in my opinion.
If the story goes that way, Nora, then that's fine. It would be a good thing to have that out there that unqualified carers are not going to be of benefit.
I wasn't qualified when I started caring for my husband, but after 20 odd years of it, I sure as hell was! You do what you have to, and I agree, carers should be paid, especially those who have to do it 24 hrs a day! Even when someone has so called 'qualified' home care, there are still many hours when the family (usually the wife) has to step in. As to the 'qualified abilities' of some of them, I could write a book - of horror stories!
I do agree though that not every lay person is cut out to do the job, I know many wives in the same position as me, who couldn't cope with it, and had to place their husband into a nursing home.
I also agree that it makes no sense for Eileen to do this so Paul can continue working.
At lease this is an interesting plot twist and might develop a different side to Eileen. I should think all of those gasping with ancient horror at Eileen and Paul's relationship would see this as some sort of effort to do the right thing. I see Eileen as caring for many people, look at those in her boarding house! This may just bring out a gentler side to her, with opportunity for dark humour and no doubt Eileen will be in the market for a job once Frank's place flops.
