Karen Briggs, 46, is behind bars for nine months after admitting burglary and theft at two churches in Cobham, Surrey. And Johnny’s granddaughter Emma Beach, 23, who also pleaded guilty to the charges, has been ordered to carry out community service.
Briggs and her daughter Beach, who live together, have both battled drug addiction and have a string of previous convictions. Four years ago, they were caught stealing Poppy Appeal collection boxes. Beach took two boxes as her mum distracted collectors. In June, they stole pensioner Margaret Roberts’ handbag during a service at the Methodist Church in Cobham.
Michael McCabe, defending, said Beach had been hooked on heroin since the age of 14 after being introduced to the drug by her mother.

What a sad story - oh dear.
It is really sad. Not the first time she's been in the news either about her heroin addiction. Didn't realise she had her daughter involved in it too though. Very sad.
They sound a right couple of little charmers, make their old dad real proud! Stealing an old pensioners handbag is not sad Nora its plain wicked.
What disgraceful behaviour, Johnny Briggs must be so ashamed.
