One of the great joys of watching Corrie is to see certain character types come around again and again. For example we have Sean (Bet Lynch), Carla (Elsie Tanner), Kevin (Len Fairclough), Owen (Len Fairclough again), Becky (Bet Lynch again), Norris (Hilda Ogden with a bit of Annie Walker) and Sylvia Goodwin (the other bit of Annie Walker with a spoonful of Blanche). Tommy Duckworth is Ray Langton for the new Millenium and there's every chance that, if she lasts the course, Tina will one day become Gail.
However, at the time of writing, I'm really not 'getting' the character of Eva Price. Childish - yes, spoiled - yes, vacuous - yes. She drifts into scenes, usually clutching some ridiculous handbag, with all the charm of a wooden spoon with a face drawn on it.
Could this be the week that the writers finally give Catherine Tyldesley some action? This mouthy, mardy (now there's a good northern word) piece of trouble could only be the sister of 'our Leanne'. Here's hoping that the character is about to be fleshed out a little - otherwise this wooden spoon may just find herself consigned to the back of the cupboard.

Smashing post, well said, agree wholeheartedly and just hope we see more of Eva and what motivates her rather than as a reactor to events.
At the moment she comes across as way too bitchy, even worse at times than Tracy Barlow.
Sylvia evokes Ena Sharples, IMO... :)
But yep, I agree. Not warming to Eva much at all.
Eva has been written as a petulant twenty-something. If TPTB wanted a character like that, they should have got a much younger actress.
I was thinking the character Eva was being started off slowly, maybe because the fate and longevity of Stella was hanging in the balance.
Right now I don't think anything of the character, guess we'll have to wait and see how she develops, or not.
I don't think either Sean or Becky are even close to being fit to lick Bet Lynch's leopard print boots, IMO, and Tommy is far too gormless to be anywhere like Ray Langton. Well, ok, they both fancy themselves something rotten. I'll give you that.
Eva, well... I'm hoping she'll be like a lot of characters that start off really nerve grating and then are softened a bit to a tolerable level. Right now she keeps acting like a spoiled 12 year old and could give Faye a run for her money instead of a 20something adult.
Far too spoiled, spiteful and petulant and brings nothing but nastiness and perpetual whining. I will never care about her as a character. As was said she should have been played by a younger character, how old is she supposed to be anyway - she looks at least 30. Is she Karl's natural daughter, or is she the result of another of Stella's "relationships"?
Always thought Noris was a combination of Percy and Mavis.
I think Eva is a bit like Candice - daft and shallow, but eventually, we'll find out that her heart is in the right place.
In what way is Carla remotely like Elsie Tanner? Was it when she plonked herself down in the Rovers with the Factory Girls recently and said Oh Ok I will slum it today? Because Elsie was known for being an abrasive snob. Not.
I can't say that I agree with any of your examples. Eva has only just come into it this week in Australia and I did think she reminded me of Toyah Battersby in her accent and a 60's equivalent would be Lucille Hewitt. My examples are Tina (betty williams cos she'd turn the beer sour), Carla (mike baldwin in a dress), Eileen (elsie tanner cos she never has luck with fellas and always broke), Fiz (Hilda cos until recently she always looked on the bright side even if everyone around her lets her down),
