With thanks to John at http://coronationstreet.wikia.com/ for sending this to me. It's a 1972 edition of the Ulster Television arts programme "Spectrum" which features long and fascinating interviews with Doris Speed, Violet Carson, William Roache, Peter Adamson and, from the production side, Harry Kershaw and two unidentified writers who John suspects are Susan Pleat and Malcolm Lynch .

Very good programme - were there any like this on UK TV in the 70s/80s? Or lots?
Anyway, Violet Carson seems very actressy, darling. Loved Doris Speed's anecdote about the posh lady! And Bill Roache, thinking he'll leave...
Just wonderful, thanks for passing on. Interesting, perhaps prescient, comment by Harry Kershaw that Coronation Street is based on life itself so it will go on until life is no more!
That was wonderful, I must drop the fellow a line and see if I can get permission to add it to my site too.
Loved the last line - that Coronation Street could go on for at least another 12 years. It would have blown their minds if they had only known it would still be going 38 years later!
A dream come true - to see Doris, Violet and Peter interviewed... and in colour too. Amazing!
That's fantastic! You do really get a better sense of the people behind the characters don't you!
This is brilliant (apart from the dodgy reporter) I've never seen any of these actors interviewed in length before and it really gives you an insight into the real people. They were all very posh (except Bill Roache). It looks like Doris Speed probably played herself. Bill Roache too. I feel a real empathy for Peter Adamson. He really loved his job and so it must have hit him hard when he got sacked by Bill Podmore.
