But now, Digital Spy reports that Corrie is forcing yet another sixth episode on us during the week beginning 17th August. There's going to be an extra episode on the Thursday night of that week.
I say - Enough!

I'm on holiday that week so that means more Corrie catch up. I think three eps would be quite sufficient.
I only watch two soaps (5 eps each) and it's tough catching up, as well as other programmes. And you don't want to confine yourself to just watching soap.
But 6 eps is too much. Drop the double eps on Monday and Friday and go back to Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I suspect it's all to do with getting various stories to where they need to be for the live episode. The schedule might have been put behind by having to write in Deirdre's funeral so there's time that need to be made up. Hopefully things will go back to normal after that.

I wonder how much is influenced by the advertisers and the sponsors. The more episodes, the more advertising breaks. Personally, on a double ep night, I watch the second episode and I can generally guess what happened earlier. The greater the number of episodes, the more you feel that you're in real time. That's why you need more normal, chatty, inconsequential scenes to break up the cliff hangers.
I've said it in the past: the main reason we have too many characters (all crammed into those tiny houses) is because we have too many episodes to fill up every week. Fewer episodes = fewer story lines = fewer characters = better quality acting/writing/directing.
I rather enjoyed having six episodes per week. I never ever miss an episode. I quite like the double episodes on Mondays and Fridays- it makes Corrie unique from the other soaps.
In Australia we get 5 eps mon-fri so all these 6 eps will just put us further behind.
Personally, I'll watch as much as they can give me. My main beef with Corra is the dead weight of plots that last for too long. Callum and the Platts, for instance. Per-lease!

I despise the double episode days. I'm forced to waste half an hour waiting for the second instalment. If it was an hour long episode it wouldn't be so bad but the split is dreadful and no cliffhanger imaginable would make it worthwhile.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday was by far the best format and doesn't mean I have to be in and glued to the tv every day.
AmandaB - half an hour is great to catch uр with things you were suррosed to be doing (like cleaning the house,sending emails, online gambling, etc) :)
Anonymous 12.57, if only more characters did mean more storylines. There are rarely more than three or four on the go in any episode and so we get scenes where the same information is repeated between different combinations of characters. More stories might disguise the fact that some stories move at a snail's pace - the Callum plot should have wrapped up weeks ago - and make it less repetitive.
I'm close to giving up on the show, it's in such a bad state right now. Six episodes is too much - they can't sustain the quality at five.
To be fair, an episode is only 20 minutes long without the breaks, so 6 episodes is only the length of an average film. Not bothered either way
