Simon knocks Leanne unconscious - first look pics

Here are some sneak preview pictures for the episode of Coronation Street to be shown on Friday 4 September.

Having found out Simon’s been in a fight at school, Leanne marches him home. Simon blames Leanne, telling her the lads were picking on him because she won’t buy him a decent phone.

Leanne runs a bath and orders Simon to wash the dishes but Simon refuses and giving her an almighty shove, does a runner from the flat.

Leanne stumbles and catching her head on a table, passes out on the floor. As water starts to seep through the kebab shop ceiling, Dev and Mary head upstairs and let themselves into Leanne’s flat. They’re horrified to find her unconscious on the floor and the bath overflowing.

It sounds similar to David pushing his mum down the stairs and all because Simon doesn't have a phone like everyone else?!He's a spoilt brat and Ken needs to get involved now.

Simon's going to end up killing someone or at least in jail. This is a good storyline about the consequences to other people from leaving someone to fester in their own rage and then enabling them through lying to cover it up.

How many parents do this in the real world? (My Johnny's a good boy/he'd never do that). Probably more than we know, if not quite to this extreme. How about the number of children who are being raised to disrespect authority? How about their knowledge about laws that protect them from spankings but also allow them to threaten their parents with a report to the police? Goodness knows how many parents live with teenagers they are a little afraid of.

However, we got the point awhile ago, so it's time for someone else to know the truth and intervene.

I think they should ship Simon off to live with his father - end of problem and end of tedious storyline.

Boys taking out aggression on their mothers (like David Platt, Todd, Simon) is perhaps consistent with a show that has historically featured women trying to manage the feckless, drunk, disloyal, and even violent men in their lives. Still I hate to see Simon, a character I love, fall into that pattern. His unique upbringing, however unconventional, still saw him surrounded with adults who were almost inspired to be better, more responsible people for Simon's sake. Please let him get through this and become a pillar on the Street, maybe not as sensitive as Craig, but more like a cross between his weird and varied parentage, with parts of Ken, parts of Leanne, and parts of Peter. He's responsive to many adults on the Street, from Tina to Zeedan, meaning that he has the potential to grow out of his family curse in ways that David Platt, the ultimate product of an inbred, dysfunctional clan lacked back in the day.

Well, we know things were going to progressively deteriorate into a psycho violent disaster. I'm hopeful that this is the worst of it and after this low point in their relationship, some sort intervention and appropriate treatment may begin.

We shouldn't leave his birth mother, Lucy, out of the picture. She's virtually a blank page and the writers could get her parents back into the storyline. Perhaps Lucy was very troubled as a child which led to the rift between them. I seem to remember that was the reason Lucy's father wanted to have custody of Simon as a way of making up his failings towards Lucy. Could some of Simon's difficulties be genetic?

I agree with Anon 18:58, ship him off to live with his father - why should Peter get away with having to put up with his son when Leanne isn't even his mother, biological, adoptive or otherwise.

Hopefully this fall will knock some sense into her head! High time Simon was dealt with. Leeanne deserves better than to be abused by that spoilt brat. I know Simon has had a hard life but if he doesn't get proper help soon he'll be headed for jail. The signs are all there. Peter needs to come home and deal with his kid. I absolutely hate the way they call him Si.
