Sarah Platt's return - what did you think?

What did you all make of the return of Sarah Platt last night to Coronation Street?

I LOVED it.

From her storming into the Platt household with a growling "Where IS she?" at daughter Bethany, through to the 'bride of chucky' comment from David and the clueless Jason wondering if Roberto was the Italian name for Robert, the double episodes had me chuckling from start to end.

And then the knowing looks between Sarah and Bethany, mum and daughter bonding over chips instead of Gail's bangers and mash, were lovely scenes to watch too.

I can't wait to see more of Sarah Lou - "Mum! How many times do I have to tell you? It's SARAH!" winding up half-brother David and she'll do this in fine style when she starts a snog fest with Callum.
Next week on Corrie, Sarah and Jason wind up Bethany by pretending to get cosy together. Callum tries to flirt with Sarah but she sends him packing. Then Sarah is taken aback when Jason tells her that his feelings for her are long gone. Realising this was Bethany's idea of a joke, they decide to get their own back and set about winding Bethany up.

The highlight of the episode for me was Tim & Sally, absolutely loving their interaction at the moment. I'm sure Sally will have some great lines when Faye's baby is revealed.

Two really good episodes last night - Sarah, Sally & Tim, Sally & Norris, the awful school concert. Great stuff.

Sarah's return much better than anticpated. Plus that wonderful school concert. We've all been there - usually playing the recorder!

Bethany looked older than Sarah.

Considering I never much cared for Sarah, I thoroughly enjoyed her return... especially her comments about Michael.

I know it doesn't fit the story line but Bethany ought to look much younger than her age. Her mother, grandmother and great grandmother all look extremely good for their years. Anon is right in that Bethany looked older than Sarah.

The time away from Corrie has been well spent. Tina O'Brien has turned out to be a good actress (I loved her in Call the Midwife). By contrast, and the actress can't help it being so inexperienced, Bathany was played a bit OTT and amdram. Good rapport between mother and daughter.

Zeedan at the allotment and Tracy trying to get her way with Tony, even those two dead weights couldn't ruin last night's episodes. I think if Bethany toned down her makeup, she'd look a lot younger, but either that's what 14 year old girls do (are she and Faye going to be friends???), or it's what we're supposed to think they do in Milan and she hasn't gotten all the way back to Wethersfield. So far, I like how Bethany's gotten along with everyone she's paired up with, and it was good to see Sarah Lou, oops, Sarah all feisty and fun. That, with a sprinkle of snark from Uncle David, a good time at the Platts.

Well as Frosty has said already he is bored with her and think her a pointless returnee. Like Bethany better but agree that she looks younger than her daughter although there is only 12/13 years between them.

Why did Gail go to the cemetary and what was all that bonkers blathering about? I feel sorry for Helen Worth having to play the village idiot half the time.

I notice I've been laughing more while watching Corrie the past few days. As for Sarah's return, I thought like most of us here, that it went better than anticipated. At first I thought Bethany looked too old for her age and that she's being acted too OTT, but I'm changing my mind very quickly.

Bethany appears several times without the face slap and looks much younger then. Even though she's close in age to FayE, who looks and acts much younger, teens mature at different rates and in different ways, so that doesn't bother me.

I'm enjoying the actor's ability to do both OTT, Platt style, and show other sides to Bethany's character. Her interactions with her grandmother about literature and chick lit felt warm, and she seems willing to talk with adults at times (opposite of Zeedan), which helped her and Sarah to re-bond so fast again. I think this is partly good writing, but also Lucy Fallon's ability to portray more than one way of doing a teen.

I agree that Tina O'Brien has come back with some skills under her belt. This could be fun!

I'm not liking how Bethany rolls her eyes all the time, it gives me the creeps.

Bethany rolls her eyes like almost every teenage girl on earth!
