Tim's reading lessons with Anna - isn't this deja vu? Didn't Ken Barlow teach Tyrone to read on the sly as well?

Katy announces she wants to be a paramedic"!!!

That is a joke, isn't it?

What next? Kirk wants to be a brain surgeon?

I am looking into my crystal ball - now let me see - Peter expects deludedly to take back up with Carla and she quite rightly knocks him back so he leaves Town - right??

Too right John McE! Katy as a paramedic? What a joke. Didn't she leave school at 14 or 15? What are these writers thinking? And I just can't believe that Fiz would be taking care of Cilla no matter what. I know they need an exit strategy for Fix, but this is ridiculous.

I don't know.. nice to see someone with career ambitions!
Rebecca in TO

She could probably learn to drive the ambulance but there's a lot more to being a paramedic than first aid training and yeah, she left school at 16, don't even think she wrote her GCSEs tho she might have. Didn't get any further tho. I hope they show her taking a night class to get qualifications first.

The writers always miss out the fact peter has a son, last scenes in prison he is telling his cell mate , Carla needs me , what about simon?, doesn't he need his dad.

Yes, now Simon has been permanently abandoned to be cared for by someone who wasn't even his mother! Peter should have taken flaming Simon with him and be done with him!

I suppose the point of Katy's storyline is going to be how important it is to finish school because at the time you may not have any academic ambitions but not finishing the basics will stand in the way if you decide to carry on studying in the future.

'Katy announces she wants to be a paramedic.'

I thought this chracter was leaving the show and moving to Hollywood...

Either way, both are a bit of a stretch.

If she wants to go into medical services she could train as a porter, much more realistic I feel. I've always found the portera a real help when I've been in hospital, or does she just want a new boyfriend.
I suppose Fizz is going to be burdened with Cilla, a daughter's duty and all that, but there are other characters she might gel with better, Beth for instance. Perhaps Emily might be persuaded to take her in out of Christian charity? Although it is now Norris's house, Emily still has the upper hand sometimes.
Only time will tell!

D'you know, I had to think for a minute who Craig is, it's that long since we've seen him!

Rossie - have you taken leave of your senses? WHY on earth would Emily who is now in her 80s take into her home this dreadful scrounging sponging using woman, when she is not related or hardly knows her? Do you take in your lame duck relatives of neighbours? Thank goodness Cilla's stay is only a short one, as she does not fit into the Street any longer in my opinion.

I do feel sorry for Peter. He appears to have convinced himself that Carla will get back with him because "she needs him". In reality, it's the other way round.

I reckon Peter will decide to leave when he realises that if he tries to start again in Weatherfield, it will have to be without Carla. And Simon would end up suffering especially if his dad falls off the wagon for the millionth time. Would be the end of him.

I'd say Peter's time has most definitely come to an end. I don't think we need more months of groveling and falling in and out of drunken stupors. It's shame they made this character hit such rock bottom that he is almost unbearable to watch on screen. At this point there is nothing left for him, so I guess this will be his exit. And while Simon is his son, who would wish him on anybody as a father? He can't take care of himself, much less a kid.
I hope when and if they bring Peter back (which seems to be the cycle) he is through with the drink and comes back a new and improved Peter. They've beaten this storyline to death now. No more drunken Peter ever.
Maybe he should find God and come back as a Vicar!! That would be a story!
