Why is Kal sitting around in a vest in a chilly Northern Spring? This character is rapidly becoming very irritating indeed.
It may not be as bad as it sounds but, yikes, another female having a complete personality change. Sinead gets drunk and makes a scene? She only lives up the road. She'd run out of the Bistro and go home.
How can Katy afford a new dress?
Despite financial worries characters can always find the time to eat in the cafe, buy new sets of clothes or go to the pub every evening. Or go to the Bistro. I thought the Windass/Armstrong clan where trying to save up every penny they can due to the debts Phelan left them with.
Please don't ruin the Sinead character.
For the first time ever (in 40 years of watching the programme), I fast-forwarded through much of the Maddie - Sophie stuff, and instead of watching the second episode watched something else instead.
What on Earth has happened to the strong women that were the Street's lifesblood?
We have Maria with a complete personality transplant because gay Marcus turned out to be... gay, even though she got over Daddy Liam's murder in no time.
Fizz, who was a firebrand tearaway when she was first introduced is now reduced to being a simpering fool. She's had a serial killer for a husband for God's sake, surely that ought to toughened up her character?
Maddie and Sophie - tedious beyond description.
Nick-Leanne-Kal - completely unbelievable, and gross, into the bargain.
Eva - yes, we know she isn't the brightest button, but that ludicrous excuse she gave for Leanne not being there was ridiculous. And anyway, given that she was so heart broken when Nick dumped her, you'd have thought she'd have been outraged at Leanne's betrayal, surely?
Mr. Blackburn, you are on the point of losing yet another viewer.
I'm sorry but I don't understand the comments (not just here but on other posts as well) about how Maria had a personality transplant upon Marcus' betrayal, especially when she 'got over Liam's death quickly.' This is not really a personality change for Maria. She has a tendency to go quite mad after a traumatizing event.
She turned quite mad in her attempts to prove Tony killed Liam in the months that followed the reveal of Carla and Liam's affair. She not only spray-painted "murderer" on the factory doors (incorrectly which gave Becky the opportunity to fix it LOL), she tossed the remainder of the paint on Tony's car; attacked him in the pub and scratched his face, ran Tony over with Liam's sportscar before crashing into the factory steps and so on. Tony only managed to slowly change Maria's mind in the months that followed Carla jetting to LA to get away from Tony. I think Maria, as dull as viewers and even other characters on the street may view her to be, is actually repressing quite mad tendencies.
She may not be my favourite character but I love when she gets into these states. She's quite amusing to watch :)
Well said Lily! I agree 100%
This is why both Audrey and Fizz handle her with kid gloves.
As for Eva feeling outrage for Leanne hurting Nick...why should she...Nick did not mind hurting her by tossing her aside for Leanne. Plus Eva has Jason.
If I were a person who liked older men with younger women...I think it would be a hoot to see Eva with Kal's dad. He is older, successful, and I bet he would treat Eva well. She could be a ray of sunshine for him. I think Jason is taking her for granted already.
But I do have to agree it seems that the writers would not know a strong woman if she slapped them in the face.....everyone of the gals who has something go wrong hits the bottle like an old lush. This shows weakness not strength.....Carla, Sophie, endless list...and now Sinead. Get a grip. Some women eat icecream, cry to a friend, read self help books, get a makeover, take up exercise, etc....there is more than the bottle there.
