Coronation Street, Thursday 29th December at 8.30pm
It's Sophie’s big day. As Sophie prepares for her wedding Kevin takes her to one side to ask if she's having second thoughts but Sophie assures Kevin she's doing the right thing. With the service underway Sally and Janet look proudly at their daughters but Kevin secretly fears that Sophie's making a mistake. Sian reads out her wedding vows but when it comes to Sophie's turn, she's overcome with emotion and stumbles. It's not doubts, just nerves but as Kevin watches his daughter struggle for words his need to protect her is overwhelming. Will Kevin ruin Sophie's big day?
Karl resorts to desperate measures. When Stella receives some money from a Great Aunt Karl's faced with temptation. Will he steal the cash to fund his growing gambling habit?
It’s game on for Sylvia and Norris. Norris is considering throwing in the towel but Mary won't hear of it and when Sylvia suggests musical D-day is in 2 weeks time he reluctantly agrees.
Elsewhere Gail and Eva disagree as Nick looks at flats. As Steve and Tracy plan their wedding Becky's determined to pick herself up and carry on

I dont know if I can bear to watch this, Sophie with her scowly face screeching Siiiiiiiiiaaaaan, funny little Amber as the "other woman". I wonder what Ena Sharples would have made of it all!!
Have to admit, I'm with Frosty on this. I can't muster any interest at all in this vapid triangle. What happened to Sophie, the sparky little girl that used to talk like a Jane Austen character? When did she become such a morose, dreary moaner? What happened to Amber, funny & rebellious, the thorn her pompous father deserved in his side? Now she seems just a manipulative trouble-maker. It's come to something when Sian, the most two-dimensional of the three is coming over as the most likeable!
Is this a generation thing? Are there other blogsites where younger viewers are glued to the screens when this storyline is playing? Nobody here seems to much care - me included.
I don't know whether it's the lack of acting skills or what, but neither Sian, Sophie nor Amber seem very convincing in their parts.
Amber is also much more unlikeable than she used to be.
This storyline is disliked by most people I know even the younger ones, the bad writing and terrible acting makes me want to turn of the tv, absolutely no believable chemistry between any of the characters involved!
Agree with all the above comments. I used to like Amber but she is just one more of the growing unlikeable characters topped (for me) by the dreadful, plastic Stella. Thank goodness for the "oldies".
Where are they getting the $$ for this...Sally and Kevin I suppose. I too am not remotely interested in this and ffwd through it all especially Amber firing glib one-liners at anyone within ear-shot. If she's supposed to be coming off as funny - I got news for ya.
Anyway, it'll all be over soon. Yay.
I agree with all the above comments. I put the Sophie/Sian story down to an attempt to stay current and in tune with the times, but honestly, I zone out when those two are on the screen.
Amber too has had a personality change, but also Fiz. She used to be quite a different character to what she became, even before John Stape and his bizarre, dragged out storyline.
How many actually Like Fiz these days?
I happen to agree with everyone's comments stated above, but what makes the storylines much worse is one person... Becky!
I wish they would get rid of her as soon as possible otherwise I am going to have to get false-teeth due to the fact that everytime she appear in any episode, my teeth grind!
