Michelle Collins starts filming as Rovers Return landlady Stella for Coronation Street on Monday next week. She says it's "very exciting" to be joining Corrie and is currently acting on stage in the North-West in The Demolition Man.
Stella is strong, feisty and funny, says Michelle and confirms she is going to have to act with a Northern accent. Michelle says she's got a lot of friends already on the Corrie cast and knows Helen Worth but says that she called her Gail in make-up the other day and had to apologise!

I'm glad she's going to do a Northern accent. It'll be easier to accept even if it's not altogether a good one. But it might be, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.
Northern accent, huh. Just how well she manages that or how hard she finds it to keep up could affect her longevity on the show! I wish her luck and hope the character works out.
Yet another "feisty" character. Corriespeak for another Pantomime baddie - as if we didnt have enough already- Boo!
i suppose we should give her a chance i was worried about jessie wallace doing elsie tanner with a accent but she was brilliant so we'll see
Feisty doesn't mean villain - Tina, Rita and Eileen are all feisty women, and far from villainous. It's what a Rovers landlady should be.
