Here's some snippets of Coronation Street news that are floating round the internet right now.
Ian Puleston-Davies, who plays Owen Armstong is joining Waterloo Road. Ian has been confirmed for the sixth series of the BBC school drama which returns in the autumn. Does anyone know if this means he's leaving Corrie?
Vicky Binns, who plays Molly Dobbs, says she doesn't care if Molly's killed off or not. No, neither do we.
Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor, says she was shocked when she found out co-star Vicki Entwistle, who plays Janice Battersby, was leaving the show. She also hopes Michelle Connor doesn't get killed off in the tram crash.
And last, but by no means least, a live episode is finally rumoured (by the Sunday People tabloid) for Corrie's 50th.

I don't know about the live episode. The producer has already said no but i suppose the tram crash stuff might only be able to be filmed the once, enhanced by cgi i should think. Molly... Michelle. ... I don't really care lol
I agree with Tvor. I'm not really keen on live episodes and think it's more of a gimmick than anything else. Also, I don't really care either regarding Molly and Michelle. Molly at first was an excellent character only to be ruined by a rubbish story. Michelle doesn't really serve much purpose and now that Ryan is going there won't be anything for her to do, apart from having more blokes around. Maybe she can follow in her brothers footsteps...???!
I agree - Michelle and Molly - who cares? So that's why I didn;t give them their own blog posts ;-)
Oh no! Not another bloody live episode. The last one was very self-consciously "live"... and instead of enjoying the drama, you end watching to see who will fluff their lines... ro move when they are supposed to be dead! Personally, I'd prefer the aftermath of the tram crash to be as polished and believable as possible.
What if....
... the live action was also mixed with pre-recorded footage AND effects shots, in one very carefully choreographed and rehearsed hour?
It could raise the bar significantly with regard to acting skill and technical talent.
But what do I know :)
Ian has stated that he has no intentions to leave Corrie.
Besides which, as far as i know, series 6 of Waterloo Road has already been filmed, therefore Ian could have had it in the bag before he began filming on Corrie (or at the very least in the very early days of his Corrie filming).
His Waterloo Road character is going to be the cheating husband of the new headmistress, so one could second guess that perhaps he would only be in it for a couple of episodes anyway, before his (ex?) wife threw him out and moved on with her life and her new job...?
There must be quite the power dynamics/rivalries between writers and actors in general even in the best of these types of TV shows: writers get to choose the fate of these characters but it's the actors who get the fame and the "fun" of playing these crazy, stupid, funny, pathetic "characters". I imagine Crazy Mary to be a joy to play...or that of a formerly bored Charlotte who now realizes she's bit off more than she can chew let alone swallow.
I agree with Mary being a fun/challenging character to play.
The actress has to deliver those lines with perfect timing and aplomb, and just the right expression, which she excels at of course.
Charlotte, I never felt was bored really, more champing on the bit at the excitement and danger of John's daring plan.
Of course, she has done an about face now the 'danger' is a little too close to home, and she too is very believable.
